Our hostess recommended The Skerries. What a view! Also in the garden was a burial mound. Badgers mound. It was a good meal too - clearly fish a speciality. Ruth had a delicious fish soup - 3 types; I had mackerel pate . Then we both had grilled haddock, finishing off with sticky toffee pud.

Dined at the Bistro twice during our recent visit to Orkney. Experienced the finest Scallops, Langoustines, Lobster and salmon all cooked to perfection not forgetting the world class seafood chowder. The views were fantastic and the staff friendly efficient and cheerful. A wonderful experience and one we hope to repeat in the future. Essential place to visit when in Orkney... More

Went to the bistro for our first visit. Lovely views, great way to have a leisurely Sunday lunch. We all had seafood, all beautifully cooked and presented, desserts were all equally delicious. Despite being busy the staff were all cheery and attentive. Can't wait to return :)

We visited as a special occasion as my daughter was leaving the following day. We had three starters between five of us and were offered extra crockery and cutlery so that we could share them. The scallops were the best we had ever had, so much so that we had some more as an extra main course. Two of the... More

Went to the bistro today for out first visit. We sat outside as it was a beautifull day something that you can't do at many places in orkney. I had the prawn salad and haddock both were presented beautifully and tasted delicious, my partner had the vegetable soup and beef lasagne he also said it was delicious. The views are... More

This is a must when visiting Orkney. Actually...it's a reason to visit Orkney! The Bistro is situated on a glorious headland with stunning views (or atmospheric mist, depending on the day)...the food is the best of Orkney produce, beautifully prepared and presented, fabulous coffee :). I visited several times...every time was made to feel so welcome by Caroline and Hamish,... More

Food was good but no view of the Skerries and Lighthouse from our table due to the dining pod blocking sight lines. We asked if the dessert came with cream or ice cream, told could be either so asked for ice cream then they charged us extra for it!

If anyone reads this review, just need to say that our hot desserts such as fruit crumble, sticky toffee pudding come with a choice of custard, cream or icecream. We do not CHARGE for this but we do charge if the customer requests more than one of these on the plate. More

Went there for lunch today and have booked for dinner tomorrow. The bistro is beautifully designed and has the most fabulous position on the cliff tops overlooking the Skerries of Pentlandite Firth. The seafood platter was excellent and washed down with Orkney Ale. We are returning for tasting menu in "The Pod", a designer structure seating 8. Can't wait!

Wonderful evening dining in the pod with friends. The seafood was to die for, beautifully presented, top quality. Carol was the perfect hostess and service was excellent. One of the few set menus where I looked forward to every course. The chowder was delicious, the scallops sublime and the seafood platter was exquisite. Many of the dishes are also served... More

Super modern eating house ideally situated on the south of the island on top of the cliffs with great views. The service was excellent and the food one of the best on this island. I went for the Scapa Flow langoustines, you get 6 of the beasties and they are huge, more like lobsters than any langoustine I've ever seen... More
