Our first Xmas lunch 2014

Visited with my wife yesterday about 3.15pm, and as you would expect at that time it was half empty. It was a very cold day and we found the restaurant cold...there are so many windows in the place, i.e. brilliant in summer but not in winter. However, it was beautifully decorated and the staff... read more

We visited this restaurant some time ago after its recent opening and were not impressed. Today we had a lovely meal, well priced, in a very attractive modern Christmas atmosphere, well served, altogether very pleasant. I would give it 5 stars were it not for the parking area which is a sea of potholes and inconveniently said out.

We chose The Paper Mill in Lasswade as it is in sight of my Mother's birthplace, where she went to school and where she lived for most of her married life. The place was ideal, the staff were so helpful and the soup, it was agreed by all was as good as my Mother'! Brilliant and thank-you

Went here for lunch with the family. Was really looking forward to going after reading the reviews, but unfortunately it did not live up to the good reviews it has obtained. The menu particularly the Main Courses was very limited in choice and after ordering the Home made Burger found it to be very, very dry. The accompanying barbecue sauce... More

I have been here several times, either with family or friends, usually for dinner, once for drinks only. It is very handy for me to get to without having to drive here, so need not forgo the wine. The building was very nicely refurbished from its previous incarnations as The Mill, and before that Koggs, and has a good outdoor... More

Came for my lunch with 8other family members. All our food was excellent. Kids meals good choice & huge! Few evenings later came for birthday drinks with friends and had cocktails. Good choice of beers, cocktails and wines although bit over priced. The place is done up lovely and most if the staff attentive. Looking forward to going again soon

We shared a meal here with 69 wedding guests this October. We were overjoyed by the service, and excellent food, including a lovely menu of steak, cod, duck and enjoyable veggie choices and sides. It boasts a very stylish bar, restaurant, and private dining area. As wig previous visits, the staff couldn't have been more helpful, and we are sure... More

The paper mill is a (thankfully not so well hidden) gem. Yesterday's visit was one of many repeat trips - this time taking advantage of the "two mains for £10" midweek deal on a rare day off. As always, we were met almost instantly by the staff on arrival and shown to a table. The waitress was very personable and... More
