After being unable to find the golden dragon ( I think that it's now Arran Tandoori and still empty) we tried the bar food at the Douglas hotel. We felt under dressed for the bistro! Burgers were great, especially the beef and goats cheese! Chips came in a little mini fryer basket with mock newspaper which my mum found cute.... More

We had a wonderful family meal at the Douglas hotel yesterday at the end of a daytrip to Arran. A perfect place to arrive at 5pm and watch the sunset before catching the 7ock ferry. One of the very few meals out where you get completely empty plates from everyone including the children. The hotel also take the tastecard which... More

Had very positive experience at this hotel Bistro. The food was good and the staff very helpful. Our party ordered both vegetarian and meat dishes all of which were well prepared and cooked. Bistro was comfortable and clean. Would recommend to others.

Sorry won't be back and will be telling other walkers to avoid. Previously we've also found the hotel closed completely for weddings on Saturdays. Really not very... More

We visited the Douglas for a bar lunch during a visit to the island. It was not a good experience. We ordered roast beef sandwiches and cheese and tomato. The bar was relatively quiet and two young lads were serving. They were very friendly but woefully under trained. Our table badly needed cleaned but no attempt was made to do... More
