I don't get here often enough...the restaurant is in a small close (alley) in the small-ish Fife town of Cupar and it's not easy to find. If you do take the time to figure it out, you will not be disappointed. The food is excellent. Ingredients are locally sourced and simply prepared. The wine list is also excellent and chosen... More

a wonderful evening celebrating a 60th birthday with fantastic food, wonderful wines, warm and friendly, thoughtful and intelligent service of a fabulous meal - locally sourced produce cooked to perfection accompanied with flavoursome sauces and a good variety to select from - tuck yourselves away up the close for an absolute treat - Ostlers Close, Cupar should be very proud... I have dined in this restaurant for as long as it has been open (30+ years). Founded by a couple from St. Andrews, they chose a highly unlikely location: off a small close by Cupar's main road, offering barely room to squeeze a quality eating place. There can't be more than 6/7 tables, but the charm of the place is... More

I visited this restaurant a few years ago when I was visiting my parents who live nearby.I did not expect to experience fine dining in what is a rather functional little Scottish town. The restaurant is tucked down a tiny alley and you would have to know it was there. Its small inside with a low ceiling but cosy. I was impressed... More

Again we enjoyed delicious local produce prepared with imagination and expertise . Jimmy manages to provide sauces with a real depth of flavour to accompany fife fish, lamb and beef etc. Amanda's puddings and petit fours also are light of touch but pack real flavours especially of seasonal fruits. Although the restaurant is small you are assured of your table... More

A little tricky to find but well worth it. A friendly greeting and enticing menu that were worthy of much more exotic locations. The starters, mains and puddings were beautifully composed, with fresh ingredients of high quality. The soup pre-starter and bread were an unexpected bonus. Good wine list too. A great night out for a birthday celebration.

You have to search carefully for this very special restaurant, but once you have found it up a 'wee close' off the main route through Cupar, you'll never forget it! A fresh menu is prepared each day based on the availability of local produce and the presentation of all meals is second to none. The patron/chef has to be praised... More

A great little restaurant that really does deserve all its plaudits. Fabulous local food prepared with real flair and passion, beautifully served by friendly staff in relaxed surroundings.Having eaten in more restaurants than we care to admit to on five different continents we would rank this among the best. Not the cheapest but worth every penny and we will have... More

Third visit to this restaurant and it was our choice for taking the family for our anniversary. Each had 3 courses and enjoyed it all. There aren't many choices for any of the courses but what we had was really nice, tasty, really hot with nice extra touches such as the amuse bouche. It's not cheap but we knew that,... More
