Anstruther Fish Bar & Restaurant has an undeserved reputation as the best fish and chippery in the UK- an oxymoron at least. The location is great, but the service is slow and the food is full of fat. Try standing on three flights of stairs for an eternity only to be served with an overpriced bag of oily batter. In... more

No doubt the fish and chips are very good. On the occasion we sat in the service was slow, no plates eating out of cartons. A bit of a disappointed after rave reviews and prestige awards, Has a canteen atmosphere. more

We came out to Fife especially to eat at Anstruther Fish Bar and were not disappointed. The wait was very quick, the service friendly, the place clean and the atmosphere great! But best of all, they have best fish-n-chips ever -- simply to die for! This is what fish and chips must taste like. The selection is great and everything... more

We drove out of our way to come to this restaurant and we waited in line for 50 minutes to buy take away. We did not queue to eat in the restaurant as the wait was longer - even if we saw that for over 20 minutes the waitresses consistently left various tables empty and were VERY slow at sitting... more

I come from Lancashire so I have had a few fish & chip suppers in my time! We were visiting St Andrews for the day and read about the Anstruther Fish Bar. It was well worth the visit and the queuing. It was a Saturday evening and I was prepared for a long wait but in fact it was only... more

My husband and son had the opportunity to have lunch here recently and found their reputation for the best fish and chips to be well founded. They dined inside which was immaculately clean, service friendly and well worth the wait. About 20 minutes. more

Well we finally found somewhere that I can say is the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. The Anstruther Fish Restaurant shown above. Now its not cheap, almost 10 pound a head for fish and chips and a drink. But Oh what quality oh what taste. For those who would know I have eaten at Seashell near Lords... more

We went to Anstruther Fish Bar for dinner after our St Andrews day trip 22 March 09. Thought the quene line was long, but it definately worth the little wait. The food was very fresh and tasty! Definately to mention was that we were served promptly by THE BEST STAFF ever, the friendly and very polite waitresses and the gentleman David.This... more

We visited in the summer and every night there was about a 20 minute queue for seating inside. A typical chippie inside but the fish and chips (I had the most expensive fish) were lovely. We even went back a second time on our holiday and queued again! Generally the prices are good and include a drink. If you're after... more

Best fish and chips I've ever had by far. Staff were extremely friendly and new what they were talking about, which is rare these days especially as they all looked about 15! Food was lovely, service incredible - will be going back for sure! more
