Bistro meets bar here at Donalds, one of two dining options at the fantastic Ducks. Set in the quiet East Lothian coastal village of Aberlady, Ducks is a one time Edinburgh institution now found in more genteel surroundings and with the addition of a rather swanky little bistro. A relaxed, chilled out spot perfect for kicking back after a hard day on the range or walking the wonderful local coastline, Donalds offers chic but comfortable surroundings and friendly service whether youre enjoying a full meal or just dropping in to sample their excellent wine list and extensive collection of beers and ales. Hearty and delicious, the Donalds menu incorporates the best of British dishes with a hint of European flavour.

We coupled a meal here with an overnight stay as this is a Restaurant with rooms. This meant that we could enjoy a drink with the meal without worrying about driving home immediately. The only disappointing part of the meal was that we were the only diner's in the Bistro, a February mid-week, but we did get very attentive service!... More

Went here for lunch just before Christmas and was very disappointed. We read the previous review and were slightly concerned about the limited choice available so we rang to check a few days before our visit. We were told that the full bistro menu was available, as well as the fixed price lunch menu. This turned out to be misleading... More

I had high hope for this restaurant considering all the reviews and the menu online looked promising. We had booked in advance but when we arrived we were told that there was only a limited menu due to it being close to Christmas. We were disappointed that we hadn't been advised of this prior to arrival. The food was nice... More

Popped in here for a quick bite recently. Very welcoming young man served us - liked his sense of humour and this made us feel at ease straight away. There is a really nice feel to this place - we had a drink in the bar whilst deciding on the menu. Both had burgers (i feel a theme starting in... More
