Very good!

Not a big reviewer on this sort of thing felt this deserved a thumbs up, being in the trade and knowing people are quick to criticise when it's not right but very often don't speak up when it is right, prawn starter and lamb to follow, both well presented lamb perfectly cooked, plenty of it was... read more

We visited the Blackstone with friends, and recently also with family. The charcuterie board between the 3 of us, 1 of the party was vegetarian and it suited us all. I ordered the fillet steak which was stunning it just fell apart on the fork. My friends had the hake and said it was very good. Another had the beef... More

We ate here on Friday night. The shared starter platter was amazing. But when my wife ordered the lamb she was told it was the last one. However the waitress then returned shortly to say that they didn't have any left. My wife then disappointedly ordered the burger. I ordered the sirloin steak. When they arrived neither was very good... More

We decided to eat here as we were passing Ballymena, on our way home, after a family day out. The food was faultless, really delicious. The breads with oils and dips were so tasty, as was my husbands lamb. I had the Thai Green Curry with prawns. Everything tasted so fresh, and the prawns juicy and devine. Wish we had... More

The menu changes. The chef is top quality. The food is perfectly cooked and prepared. Ive had two of the best meals ever at this place. Once was a lamb dish with fine beans and tomato vinaigrette and roasted garlic. The other was a dish of welsh rarebit. A not often seen dish on menus but it was unreal. Ive... More

This was chosen as the venue for my sister's 40th wedding anniversary dinner. We picked 3 courses from a set menu and I would have to admit thinking £26.95 was steep enough for a bar in Ballymena. I probably expected some kind of pub grub but couldn't have been more wrong. I chose prawn cocktail to start with, Duck for... More

We recently ate downstairs in the pub for lunch. The food was very tasty and well presented and there was a pleasant atmosphere. We have also eaten upstairs at night and the atmosphere varies depending on where you are seated. The openness of some areas doesn't produce a good ambience and a little thought could be given as to improving... More

I visit my family in Ballymena twice each year and on each occasion I go and have a meal in the Blackstone. I have never been disappointed. I went there yesterday with three others. While I always rate the food as very good, yesterday it was supberb. I, and two others, had the Kerryhill Lamb which was well presented and... More

This was our last meal before going on holidays and it was class as usual.there were 3 of us but we had the mixed platter for 2 Which was not only ample but excellent. Needless to say our main course was of the same standard as was the wine. Once again thanks to the staff for an excellent evening.

My husband took myself and our two sons to the Blackstone for my birthday. Unfortunately it was a waste of our time and money and spoiled my birthday. We were advised the sirloin was sold out but ribeye was available. My husband and I ordered it, When it arrived at least a third of the steak was pure fat, and... More
