An "ok" Meal...

We (myself, wife and 6 year old daughter) came here for lunch after a pub walk starting and finishing from the pub's car park. We asked if it was ok to leave the car (yes it was!) and confirmed they were serving food all day... so no rush back then. We arrived back just before 2:30pm and... read more

Visiting family in the area we were taken to this pub restaurant. Very disappointing food. The whitebait starter was fried to within an inch of it's life and was clearly frozen not freshly prepared. Although we told the staff the starter was burnt no offer was made to replace the dish. Mains did not fair much better and I can... More

This is my "local", and one which has been a disappointment for several years now, with new managers coming & going with regularity. Every so often I have popped in to test the waters. It is a glorious quirky pub, the ancient inglenook made to contain a warming blaze on cold winter evenings, and a fairly faithful clientele. The latest... More

when will pubs begin to understand that those of us who have a Sunday Roast at home in the evening don't want one at lunchtime. Some of us just want a sandwich and a glass of wine or a pint. We won't be back but don't take it personally. 3 out of 4 pubs in Dorset now appear to major... More

Popped in for lunch to try out the new management. Both opted for fish and chips which was excellent.. we snuck a peak at the next tables Sunday Roast which also looked good. One pudding between two was sufficient, choco salted caramel tart...extremely rich! We were recommended to to try the yellow thai curry, which can be served with chicken,... More

I decided to have lunch here with my Grandpa, The staff and waitress made me feel welcomed, I ordered the roast beef and my grandpa had the roast lamb, it came within 10 minutes, the only complaint that I had is the meat could've been a bit hotter, I didn't want to complain about it at the time, it did... My husband and I visited the Barley Mow on Valentines day. Our table was booked for 7pm. We ordered drinks at the bar and were shown to our table for two. Each table had a single red rose and a lit candle, plus little scattered hearts 😍. We were served a few slices of fresh bread with butter once we... More

I have visited many country pubs and this one was awful. Dropped in for lunch; my partner had the steak and ale pie which was dry. I had the fish pie which was watery and completely lacked flavour- it clearly had been frozen. If I wasn't angry enough I walked past the kitchen and they were drinking pints, it was... More

We visited the Barley Mow yesterday (Sun 8th Feb) a family group of 5, for the first time since it has changed hands. The pub was busy with a good atmosphere and the log fires certainly adding to the ambience. The menu was what one would expect on Sunday, roasts with Beef, Pork and Lamb on the menu as well... More
