We visited the Barley Mow last year with our family and were unimpressed with the late landlords, they weren't friendly or welcoming and the food was standard. But having heard that the old landlady of the Old inn Holt had over taken we decided to give it another go and wow what an improvement! We were greated by friendly staff... More

Having visited the Barley Mow with a friend during the summer, and the food and service being very good, I suggested that we had a family meal here; party of 10. On arrival the the stuff seemed unaware of their surroundings and a took some time to point us in the direction of the table. The menus were on scrappy... More

Treated my friend to a birthday lunch and we odered food are unlikely to cook ourselves. We bith ordered 'cordon bleu filled breaded chicken with a cheese and mushroom sauce with breaded herb croquet potatoes. We received un breaded chicken with fried sliced potatoe and could not taste any cheese. Our comment to the owner who delivered our food was... More

Nice location off the beaten track, pleasant ambiance with low key music so one could hear ad enjoy the conversation round the table. Food was good, plenty and tasty. Desserts a little slow to arrive. However, would definitely go back again, good value.

We visited yesterday, after taking our daughters (ages 5 & 2) to visit Father Christmas at Stewarts Garden Centre. It finished off our day perfectly. We were show to our table straight away by a friendly member of staff. The food was absolutely beautiful and relatively prompt. We could've quite happily stayed there for a lot longer than we did.... This traditional pub , situated on a quiet country lane was for a long time one of our favourites, but in recent years we have thought the menu overpriced. Yesterday on a stormy winter's evening we decided to give it another go. We are so glad we did. As we left the car we were met by a wonderful smell... More

We have been here twice in the last three weeks. Food was excellent with generous portions. There was plenty of choice and they do food on Sunday evenings (one of the reasons we stopped going here with the last owners). The staff were friendly and welcoming. The Barley Mow has been our favourite pub for over thirty years and we... More

We were advised to try the Barley Mow by friends as it was under new management. We were so glad we did! The pub is a couple of miles outside Wimborne and the drive past small fields really got us in the rural idyll mood. The first view of the pub was charming. It was originally a 16th century thatched... More

The Chinese landlady who used to run a nearby H&W pub has returned to the area. She is great fun, and has concentrated on her core product - good, reasonable food, service and atmosphere. It is so good, now, to have this as our local. Can reccomend the menu selection and New Year's Eve, fomerly a disappointment in deepest Dorset,... More
