Traditional Country Inn

We visited with friends and enjoyed a very good meal, the choice is very good for a Pub and was served with a smile and quickly. My only gripe was that both I and my wife had pie and this was a little dry, but considering he variety available it must be difficult to have every thing fresh. The... read more

We needed a night away but didn't want a 'normal' hotel. This 15th century coaching inn oozes history from each nook and cranny. From the large Inglenook fireplace roaring to the inside partition wall made from the timbers of a tea clipper that ran aground centuries ago, old and modern have been sensibly mixed to make a family friendly pub.... The Crown at Marnhull has changed hands within the past few weeks so wanted to give it a try. Glad we did! Plenty of choice of down-to-earth rather than poncy, elaborate food but seriously good, as it turned out. We chose from the Specials Board and I had turkey, ham and leek pie and my husband beef Bourguignonne pie. Now,... More

Had Sunday lunch here. Beautiful character building inside and out. Very friendly young staff. Delicious Sunday lunch but other food also available from menu. Had the cheese for dessert and there was enough for two although biscuits were a little soft. That was the only thing I could find fault with. Looking forward to a return visit.

We stopped at The Crown for a "light lunch". What a choice - sandwiches, toasted ciabatta or jacket potatoes. My husband chose a sandwich and I had a toasted ciabatta. It was deicious. Both of the above were served with salad and crisps, very nicely presented on a n oblong platter. It was certainly more than a light lunch!! The... More

Great local fare, well cooked and presented by the attentive staff. Nothing too fussy and none of that nouvelle cuisine!

Having drunk at The Crown a few weeks ago with friends we had said we should come back and try the food. So return we did. A Friday night saw many tables reserved but with a few available we got a drink from the friendly staff at the bar and were told we could choose our table in the restaurant... More

I love everything about this place, the food, the setting and the prices. I have never had a bad experience at this place. I have been to some of the functions as well and the function room is a wonderful place for a party as well.

Called in for Sunday lunch when passing by. The pub was busy but the staff managed to slot us in. We had one roast beef & a vegetarian option which was everything but the meat ( charged at a lower price) and excellent value. Homemade Yorkshire puddings were great We found the overall price good value. If we were in... More
