A lovely cosy pub for a spring family get together

We were welcomed into the low ceilinged, cosy pub, resplendent with hundreds of twinkling coloured fairy lights on the ceiling, a quirky little 'grotto' in the fireplace which the kids loved and great ale. We felt at home within minutes, due to the wonderful treatment from the hosts. They were... read more

Took some friends for supper expecting a very good meal. Was slightly disappointed - all the fish was sold out and the remaining menu was not very inspiring. Crowded, noisy and not very comfortable. Won't be back.

We were staying in the area (for the second time) and somehow we missed this little jewel. We booked an early dinner for my sons birthday - what a fab time we had - the food was excellent and we looked after impeccably - the owners even picked up on the birthday and cake and candle (and hat lol) were... Excellent food. Very good value. Interesting seafood specials. Varied menu, plenty of choice and generous portions. Very pleasant main bar, arranged for eating. Nicely decorated. Pleasant garden. Good beer. Very friendly, efficient staff.

After horse riding at Studland we had booked to have meal in this very welcoming pub we had visited before around Xmas time. The landlord is very adaptable and fitted us in and provided us a great menu. The pub is cosy with log fire and very friendly staff. Our food was excellent as we had all different dishes and... Five of us had a very good Sunday lunch here. Friendly and professional service. Good quality food. Selection of local beers. Small and popular, so worth making a reservation. A bit breezy sat by the door. Recommended, especially for a 'walking' lunch stop.

We visited after a long long cycle from southampton and needed food! We had some yummy ales and steak and ale pie and a burger. Both meals were superb and fresh and just delicious!! Big chunks of steak in the pie! The staff were really welcoming and friendly and the pub itself is so sweet and has so much character.... More

Loved the Castle Inn, such fun. Lovely landlord, friendly locals, fab food, especially fish night on a Friday. We will be definitely returning for more Guiness and Jamesons (after a nourishing dinner, of course).

We missed the Sunday roasts as we arrived late after the blues music over the road. Cute little pub, shame I could smell the toilet cleaner as I walked in. Staff worked hard. Beer good. Menu simple food nothing different to what you would cook at home.

Top landlord got us a table when the pub was very busy on a Friday night. Food was lovely - especially the local Poole oysters and the scallops. Would highly recommend visiting for dinner, any poor reviews are completely way off. Note it is a foodie pub, otherwise you will be in drinkers corner, but wide range of beers. We... More
