Great lunch in the pub garden.

Very good choice of food and good value too. Nice garden with chickens roaming in. Definitely worth a visit. Lovely, friendly staff.

On arriving we were told not to sit down at a vacant table as there was a waiting list. We ordered a drink and went to sit in the garden, waiting for a table. Upon sitting down at our table, we were told only then that there was an hour wait for the food to arrive. We should have been... More

We visited on a weekday evening, and were lucky to get a table - it is a popular pub. A little like a fairy grotto with all the lights on the ceiling and the 'enchanted fireplace', unexpected from the outside. Staff are friendly and efficient, the food was lovely, particularly the fish pie. The only downside was that the chips... More

After visiting here in February and thoroughly enjoying it we revisited again yesterday. As before we booked as it was a special occasion, a family members 70th birthday, he was particularly pleased to see "Doom" on draft and available in a "proper" pub that hasn't had all the character stripped out of it! The Shin of Beef special was a... More

We walked up to the Castle inn as the pubs in the main area were full we received a very warm welcome particularly towards our two small children which was very nice and the food was lovely. The only thing is we found the fairy lights a little overwhelming!

The Castle was very nice and the staff friendly too. A nice selection of ales. However probably not the best place to dine unless you pre book. I was staying in the village for a weekend break. I called into the Castle on the Friday evening and every table was reserved. Luckily I saw some friends and joined them. I... More

This place if very popular. So if you want to eat I'd definitely book first as we were very lucky to get a table. The landlady is really friendly and attentive and the service very good indeed. Unfortunately i was disappointed with my mushroom stroganoff, which i'd specifically ordered based on a previous reviewers comments. However my partner's steak was... More

Ate here with a group of 8 friends. Great welcome and good choice of food at reasonable prices. Service very good and a nice atmosphere in the bar . Would visit again.

We dined here twice during our stay and both times the food was of great quality. The first time it was very busy but that was not reflected in either the food or service which were both excellent. The second time was a much quieter evening and the menu had changed with a great variety of choice.

Called in on the way home as we have done in the past, very friendly landlady, nice atmosphere in the main bar which is very oldie worldie, all the oak beamed ceilings are cover'd in fairy lights, I had mushroom stroganoff, probably the best iv'e had, exellent paprika / cream sauce, my partner had the beef / ale pie, lovely...
