I visited this restaurant recently and although the service was a little slow it was well worth the wait. The food was delicious, I had beef pasta and it was delicious. This restaurant has new owners and I do believe that they will succeed in every way and look forward to returning there for more heavenly food.

Have visited twice since the new owner, Chris and his wife took over the pub. Once was after a 10 mile walk and the second time was to watch Scotland England Rugby match. The place is very welcoming with several fires all lit and as it was quite a dull day they had also lit all the little table candles... More

Be careful if you order the Lasagne - VERY HOT and delivered swimming in a cheese sauce. They forgot the garlic bread which came as a side dish. Price was fair for the food at £7.95 but I heard someone order a coffee and get charged £3 with they swiftly cancelled. I was given a glass of ice cubes and... More

Called in here yesterday after walking from Swanage to Corfe on a bright, sunny day. Found the pub very welcoming, lovely log fire and enjoyed a lunch of pork and leek sausages with mash and onion gravy. Very well presented and delicious. The staff were attentive, would definitely recommend and will be returning there.

The Ploughman's lunch was beautifully presented, with three different types of cheese, pickles, apple amd other items, it looked a picture. I had soup with garlic bread which was a meal in itself. The place was nicely decorated in fresh colours and we were surprised that it was not busier. Newspapers provided for customers to read, tables spotlessly clean, it... More

As the Bankes Arms had recently reopened we decided to pop in for a drink and check it out. The decor is certainly a huge improvement and first impressions were good. We visited on New Year's Day and the place was very busy - as there was a shortage of seats we perched in the bar area on the bench... More

Thank you for your helpful comments. As you can imagine with a new kitchen open (2 days before Christmas) there are teething problems. As we have a 24 hour license on New Years Eve our staff were working until 5 a.m. It did take a little time on New Years Day to settle down but matters were resolved relatively quickly.... More

We called here for a pre-Christmas lunch, to learn that the Restaurant had onlt reopened a few days ago. I believe the Chef is from an Italian background, and my fish lasagne was excellent. My wife's Ploughman's was different from the usual offering. The Restaurant is in a long-established Hotel building in the very centre of Corfe Castle and just... More

We chose to eat out on our last night in the area. As a party of ten, we wondered if they could cope with us, and they did. Admirably! Between us, we had pork, salmon and duck. All were beautifully prepared, and the portions were generous. Service was timely, and it was clear that everything was freshly made. Pudding was... More

After a major 18 month renovation, the Bankes Arms has been opened again in the last couple of months. The place has been tastefully redecorated. It serves an excellent selection of real ales. They hope to reopen the restaurant in the next couple of weeks. The rooms are also being renovated reducing the original 10 rooms to 8 en-suite. Mine... More

This place had just been taken over and it was obvious the landlord was getting it back on its feet after taking it on. We came here for a drink after a trip on the Swanage Railway and I was really impressed with the quality of the cellar keeping. The ale I had was extremely well kept and probably the... More
