Description: A real foodie haven, the Kitchen at the Bankes arms is always bustling with chefs chopping herbs, making specialty herb oils, rolling freshly ground beef for burgers, making dough for pizza, singing and smiling as they buzz along. The team source and cook fresh daily, bread is baked next door at Dragons Bakery, Local fisherman and butchers supply the freshest catch, the dairy is down the road and the food offer is superb. The menu has a strong Mediterranean influence and a traditional Italian stone fired pizza oven makes our pizzas simply delicious. The abundance of fresh seafood in nearby waters allows us to have fresh scallops, crab, lobster, plaice and bass on offer together with a superb selection of steaks.

Whenever my friend and I visit Swanage, we come here. This time we managed the walk along the coast path so had deserved our lunch. It was the nicest ploughman's I think I had ever had, sitting out in the fab garden looking out to sea. It was a busy Saturday in June but we hardly had to queue, and... More

Great location but once inside dark and dingy , no local beer, staff appeared miserable. Great garden but the pub is working on its location and not delivering anything special or friendly. Big disappointment.

Called in today as passing trade,& ordered 2 bacon, Brie & cranberry baguettes, just before 2pm. We were told there would be a wait for food, tho only after we had paid - and our lunch took an hour to arrive, after we chased it up with the waitress. In fairness the sandwiches were very tasty. The steam train passed... More

The waiter was clumsy, spilling orange juice over my food. He offered to replace it with another meal, but unfortunately re-delivered the same food on a different plate but still with orange juice flavoured chicken. Appalling service, vastly overpriced, just relying on passing trade from day trippers who probably wouldn't go back there anyway.

had lunch here before and was very pleased but todays experience was not so good. We ordered jacket potatoes, one with prawn and one with tuna filling. On arrival it was immediately obvious that they had been pre cooked in the oven, allowed to cool then re heated in the microwave. to add insult both of them were not fully... More

Food good but a little pricey. Garden area needs a bit of tender loving care but has a lovely view of the downs Inside seems dull and dated. Some may say it has character!

When paying £10.50 for Meat Pie or Burger i was expecting high end pub food but very disappointed with what was served. The kids meals were expensive for what they got. One of my sons had Macaroni Cheese and a small bowl turned up with nothing else??? Maybe bread or chips or salad would have made it look a bit... More

Really good pub food and guess what? A welcome from the landlord and a Joke or two. A really nice atmosphere away from the tourist frenzy outside. Best in Corfe. We waited for 25mins in the pub over the road to be served and gave up. Poor show. However although really busy The Bankes Arms know how to treat customers.... More
