A real foodie haven, the Kitchen at the Bankes arms is always bustling with chefs chopping herbs, making specialty herb oils, rolling freshly ground beef for burgers, making dough for pizza, singing and smiling as they buzz along. The team source and cook fresh daily, bread is baked next door at Dragons Bakery, Local fisherman and butchers supply the freshest catch, the dairy is down the road and the food offer is superb. The menu has a strong Mediterranean influence and a traditional Italian stone fired pizza oven makes our pizzas simply delicious. The abundance of fresh seafood in nearby waters allows us to have fresh scallops, crab, lobster, plaice and bass on offer together with a superb selection of steaks.

We visited Corfe Castle on a very busy early May Bank Holiday 2015. The Bankes Arms was closed and local knowledge seemed to think it was not likely to open soon. The other hostelries may need booking to assure yourself of an evening meal on busy days.

The owner, who "welcomed" me, served me warm cider (without even adding ice cubes or asking me if I wanted any), beside this an expensive terrible sandwich. It was the worst moment of my short trip to Dorset.. The rest of the staff (some young girls) was really friendly.

My "terrible" rating is not really applicable because the Bankes Arms is closed, apparently until the spring of 2015. I merely put in a rating so that I could write to let would be customers know that they will not be able to make any reservations at the moment. We all (local people) hope to see the Bankes re-opened as... More

First the good points, cozy pub with plenty of tables inside and out. Great view from garden and decent selection of beers and ciders. However food was really not great. Two of the party had the sausages, chips and peas. These were ok but peas were tinned, maybe in the 80's that would be ok but not now. My wife... More

Just love this place, have been going there for years whenever one can get across from the mainland. A perfect 'watering hole' for when one has completed the Old Harry/Ballard Down walk.

We only chose this pub as all other hotels in the region were full at this particular weekend. The pub is situated only a stone throw from Corfe Castle. The main road is passing right outside the pub. Corfe castle is a popular attraction, on a sunny day the place can get very busy. We booked supposed to be the... More

We ate here as there wasn't anywhere else as all were busy, the food was good pub food, prices reasonable and service was good to. The tables are quite close together so you feel your space is being invaded a bit. The beer choice was good with Ringwood and 49' er to name a couple. overal not too bad a... More

We popped in here after visiting the Castle, in the hope of maybe a pub lunch and drinks. We chose this particular establishment as is has a sign outside saying 'Dogs allowed on leads'... we had our dog.. so why not? We ordered a Pint of lager shandy and an Orange juice with lemonade and it was £7:60! at that... More
