Wednesday Lunch

The home made beefburger was succlent but I was quite cold even though I was close to the fire. However the Palmer's Ginger beer was first class.

We went to the George during our recent stay in Chideock. What a lovely pub. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. I am a vegan and the owner/chef personally came out and had a chat about what she could prepare for me. She prepared a lovely meal, and thankfully saved me from having to resort to eating a plateful... More

Have eaten here a couple of times. Great evening menu - good pub food but very well done. The welcome is really nice from the (owners?) even though they have a tourist trade and didn't recognise us the second time. Kids really like the menu too and so did we with 3 generations to please. Good wine list too. Will... More

We had a really bad experience here on Mothering Sunday. We came for a fossil hunt in a town nearby, and were recommended this pub. We booked a few days in advance, and were really looking forward to the meal. Now, I know things are busy on Mothering Sunday, and the pub really tried to squish as many people in... More

HI VeronikaVVT13 Thank you for taking the time to review your visit, and yes , I’m really sorry, I agree, you did have a bad experience for your visit. I was truly sorry to see you so upset, our aim is that everyone leaves here happy and for that reason we obviously failed. As you said, Mothering Sunday is a... More

My boyfriend and I returned to this pub on every day of our trip (four days in a row) the food was incredible with a change of specials every day. The staff were so friendly, we are really missing the food already, wish we were still round the corner!

Stayed at Chideock for a week and visited the George on 2 occasions. The first time was a Saturday and the place was heaving! Couldn't get a table as it was booked solid and there was a band and a magician in attendance! Would have waited to see the gorgeous Debbie McGee but unfortunately was the wrong magician..Anyways...back to the... More

Stopped at the George Inn as we were travelling through. The pub had very few customers, but we decided to take a chance on the food. What a very pleasant surprise! One seafood crumble, which hubby said was supurb and a vegetarian Wellington, really flavoursome and different for a vegetarian option. Home cooked chips. Fresh cooked vegetables and a salad... We stayed in a b&b just up the road and this pub was recommended. We visited for our meals both on Friday and Saturday night and both times the food was delicious and the service excellent. The bar staff were pleasant and knowledgeable and the Saturday night as well as a band they had a magician roaming around entertaining people, all... More

We booked a table for 14 including 2 babies for Sunday lunch. The staff could not have been more helpful and made sure we were well looked after. The meal was a traditional Sunday roast with excellent roast loin of pork. The beef topside a little tough, and is not a good joint if not served immediately. Puddings have become... More
