Good centre of town pub/ restaurant.

A mid week dinner to celebrate Abe Lincoln's birthday, was tasty and enjoyable. Luckily we had booked, because others were turned away and they looked very disappointed. This place has been refurbished from the old George with its smoke stained ceilings, but it hasn't lost its charm. Friendly... read more

Had an amazing dinner here with my mother on Friday evening. The chef is the owner's wife and she is very clever. We both had the lamb dish which was mouth-wateringly gorgeous - I keep thinking about it! The wines were excellent and the waitress and owner really kind to us - especially as it was full. We have a... More

What the UK needs are more pubs like this. Dog friendly, fantastic staff and wonderful food. We turned up just after the kitchen had closed on a Saturday night and the owner said they would still be able to offer us mains, we also managed to sneak deserts which was the icing on the cake. We then turned up at... More

On our visit to Bridport, we found The George Hotel on South Street. We booked for dinner on Saturday night and even though they had just had a wedding reception, that afternoon, we were welcomed with 'open arms'. The food was fantastic! As was the service and atmosphere. The owners, Annette and Julian have turned this pub around and is... More

We were made welcome last time we visited and it was the same again this time. With good food, good beer and a friendly welcome we were very happy.

We were on holiday in Dorset and we had popped into Bridport to look at the market stalls. Our parents got hungry and the board saying scallops with black pudding drew us in!. There were 9 of us so we sat at 2 tables in the snug. This was cosy with lovely spring flowers on the table. We ordered at... More

We stopped in Bridport to find a dog friendly location for lunch and after refusal and a couple of establishments in town, found the lovely George Hotel. We were welcomed by the staff and myself partner and springer spaniel sat in the snug. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was excellent. For lunch, I had the... More

We tried the George for coffee initially, that was really good, so we went back for some lunch. The pub is tastefully decorated, inviting and warm - the real fire was great to come into on a sunny but cold February day as was the welcome. I had one of the specials, Liver and Onions in a rich gravy on... More
