My husband daughter I and dog all went into the George hotel. We were staying in eype for the week and we had heard about the bull hotel that allowed dogs, the food looked lovely but there were about 4 tables that allowed dogs. All which were full. We wandered Down the road to the George hotel and we were... More

Our second time of dining and again excellent food and friendly service, love the newly refurbed decor especially the stunning wall of rope. Took visiting friends this time and they were equally impressed and charmed, it was busy on a Friday night with a lively atmosphere, plenty drinking, lots of chat and a attentive landlord! Will be recommending to my... More

Having only had drinks in the "Refurbished" George, my Wife and I thought we would have a Friday night out there...( 17th Oct ), I have to say how attentive and friendly the staff were and the food and overall experience was fantastic, we so enjoyed it and indeed, ended up staying in the bar until chucking out Time. There... More

We booked in our family of ten this evening. We was shown to our table promtly. The waitress took our order but even though it was relatively early in the evening several of the dishes were taken off the board or were unavailable. I'm sure steak and sausages must be a popular order so I would of thought the restaurant... More

Not a local but married to one who likes to return often and the George is invariably where we end up at some stage of the visit. Over the last few years it has begun to take on the air of a chore about it as it was just getting filthy, bad service and there was no way we were... More

Disappointed. We had heard good reports, but our experience wasn't so good. Very attentive and welcoming service, but our Sunday roast was over-cooked and therefore not very tender beef, burnt and inedible Yorkshire puds, and the creme brulee (my most fave pud) was not really creme brulee - it seemed like a thickened, over-sweetened, custardy blancmange - practically solid! The... More

I like dogs and I like dinner in restaurants but when the dogs "aroma" over powers the aroma of my food I have to draw the line. I have to say the food was good, the service very good but in trying to reach out to all I feel this restaurant/pub situated in the middle of town has got it... More

My wife and I just spent a couple of nights in Bridport and were so impressed by The George that we ate there both evenings. Being Monday and Tuesday evenings it probably wasn’t as busy as it can get but we were immediately impressed by the fact that only one man was running the bar and waiting tables. Not only... More

Dined at the George last Saturday evening with a little apprehension, no need. Menu offered good varied choices, which i might add was fresh, very well cooked and nicely presented.I believe majority of food on offer was locally sourced.Must mention staff who looked after us throughout the meal, friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. All of our party live in Bridport,and... The new licence has tuned this place round. Very friendly and capable staff. An old world pub with modern, interesting and simple food. Our corned beef hash with fried egg was perfectly cooked to order, a good lunchtime snack at £8 per head. Lunchtime special, with a glass of wine looked tempting at £10. Well kept Palmers beer, brewed in... More
