Great main course lunch, very good price

I went here for lunch with a friend. On the positive, the main courses were generous and extremely well-priced and very delicious. I had linguine with mussels, leeks and creamy sauce, it was huge and extremely tasty and I think around £9. My friend was very happy with her gnocci. We had a garlic... read more

We tried this for lunch as it's had some press around winning a competition for a top chef - we'd walked past it many times without particularly finding it appealing. It's pleasant and cosy inside - slightly quirky I suppose. The food was "fine" but nothing more - no sign of it being anything particularly special. Service was good and... More

Three of us dined here last night (Thursday 4th Oct.) and although quite expensive we were impressed with the quality of the food. There is obviously a reasonably skilled chef is on the premises. Service was fine and the ambiance was a delight.

They have won an award for the best chef and so we think he must have had the night off when we went! It was an inexpensive meal, BUT, you do not mess with shellfish and how it was possible to serve a hot dish containing lukewarm mussels in chilled shells was remarkable. They were sent back only to have... More

My first visit to this establishment although I was with locals. We didi not try the menu as we were only meeting up for an evening drink. The venue is quite attractive and the selection of drinks is okay but, it does empty early and no surprise. We asked for another round of drinks and were told we could only... More

A welcome break on a cold wet August day! This place was heaving and hard to find a table, managed to get a lovely table on the second floor, love the decor of this place, traditional and quirky, unique and unpretentious. We opted for a snack - sandwiches and we were pleased to see the bread was a lovely fresh... More

If You really like good coffee, but can only find Costa Coffee or Starbucks then you are in for a treat if you take your coffee here! Great aroma, great colour, lots of hot froth and a taste that just keeps on coming - rich and full of flavour - no bitter aftertaste and always piping hot! Go and enjoy.... More

I really like this place. The building is old and interesting and it has been decorated and furnished with period pieces - lots of big comfy sofas, dark red rugs, dark wooden tables. They serve great coffee, soups and cakes! A great place to chill and read the paper or to catch up with friends.

took a day off from my duties at the Olympic sailing village to visit Bridport ( great town with great friendly people). Sadly none of them seem to work here, my wife and i both failed to see the order at bar notices which our attention was drawn to by one of the several sour faced scruffy waitresses. Two expensive... Dear MichaelWhinger, ...your tripadvisor name does give us a few clues... Firstly all our staff wear smart Beach&Barnicott shirts and we've never had them described as scruffy. Sour faced is a little churlish as many customers describe our staff as amazingly friendly, however on a busy holiday lunch we can do up to 100 lunches so you can't expect staff... More

This is a great place to hang out. The bar is chic and I love the atmosphere. I would put it in my top ten restaurants on the south coast, Great food and friendly service. Thanks for the awesome evening we all enjoyed it.
