It was our Golden Wedding Anniversary and our friends took us for a celebratory dinner. My choice was Venison - grilled with hunter's sauce followed by Fresh Lemon Sorbet. My husband ate Lamb Shanks (his favourite) followed by a traditional bread and butter pudding. Everything was cooked perfectly and served with delightful fresh vegetables. Delectable, my mouth waters at the... More

The Exeter Inn serves the best pub food in North Devon. Their French chef Oliver is a master at what he does. My partner dare not take me anywhere else as he knows I will spend the entire evening moaning that 'it's not as good as the Exeter Inn'. The menu is varied, you can usually find some of the... More

We have eaten here on a couple of occasions. Once was curry night which was average but portions were generous and the service was quick. On the second occasion we both had venison dishes from the menu which were delicious. The inside of the pub is cosy and charming and the waitresses very polite. I have seen some comments on... More

Maybe it was because we didn't book or maybe it was because we had kids or maybe it's because the landlord is always like that that, he did however warm up for my wife. We had an hour to make our choice from the wide selection of food on the menu featuring lots of local ingredients. They kids had the... More

I thought it was just us, and that the landlord just took a disliking to us the moment we arrived but looking briefly at the other entries, obviously not. I just don't get it, this is a service industry and yet you get landlords like this bloke who give this air that he hates people. Why run a pub if... More

The pub was cosy and warm, the barman was very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I had the Salmon with watercress sauce which was amazing, some of the best pub food I have ever tasted. My husband had the venison burger which had fantastic flavour, he said it was the best burger he had ever had. The service... More

My husband stopped by this lovely looking pub yesterday to check out the menu and to check it was ok to take our small dogs and was greeted by a very welcoming chap. So we decided to go there for a meal this evening, but were so disappointed, on entering we met a very grumpy chap behind the bar who... More
