Good food, lovely old world charm

We have enjoyed many meals at the Exeter Inn during our holiday stays at Sunset View across the road. The food is very good and consistent, and a good range for every taste ! There is always a good choice of beers, ciders and wine. Plus of course there is a lovely open fire on cold evenings... read more

Just had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Exeter Inn. Plenty of tasty, tender beef. Lovely roasties. Plenty of steaming hot vegetables. All in a lovely country pub. Highly recommended.

Very surprised to find this characterful old pub so quiet on a Saturday night, because the welcome was warm and the food was fabulous. Massive portions of good, English food (cooked to perfection by the French chef!) which was reasonably-priced and served by delightful staff. The food had been recommended to us by local people so I imagine that the... More

We stayed a night at the pub in mid October 2015 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff (Rebecca) were polite and helpful; the menu was varied and dinner was superb. There was a log fire which gave the place a really cozy atmosphere - an English country pub as it should be.

Went here when staying in hotel down road (high bullen), it's literally500m from hotel so perfect distance. The pub seems a little bit for the locals but nethertheless we were welcomed by the staff. We sat by the fire and it was so nice and toasty. Food fab and reasonable, fab starters of soup and camebert with bread.

Popped in for a Fish n Chips takeaway - was delicious, just what we needed. Had a beer whilst we waited and sat round the cosy fire.

The place appeared really nice however that cannot be applied to the take away meal we had, which was the worst we have ever had - soggy batter on the fish and white chips hardly cooked and greasy

This pub has a really good size area for eating and drinking. Excellent food, good portion size and not too expensive. Friendly staff. Had the chicken and bacon stuffed with cheese, delicious. Well worth a return visit.
