To be fair, I almost gave this an "average" - but it was NOT the staffs fault - they were just very busy & did not have enough staff to cope! The meal was typical pub fare, nicely cooked & presented - we had two courses, along with a large glass of Merlot each, & got change out of £20.... More

I am a frequent visitor to most Weatherspoons pubs because they are usually pleasant and pride themselves on good honest value for money. The Powder Monkey in Exmouth is often a mix of locals out for a drink or bite to eat with a mix of visitors out in Exmouth. The pub displays a great cannon in the courtyard and... More

We enjoyed Sunday lunch here and as will all Wetherspoons it's very good value. This is in comparison to other Wetherspoons we have visited smaller than most. However, it was the same good value and service. The usual menu with a drink included with some meals. The staff are very helpful and provided us with extra gravy when requested.

As a fan of Wetherspoons pubs, the powder monkey was a lovely pub to have a pint. The food was excellent as well.

For good honest grub at a good honest pub that understands beer and provides good service and real value for money Weatherspoons takes first prize. Usually. The Powder Monkey can do it too but has problems holding a reliable standard. The good news is that it is a real family diner just a ten minute walk from a fun beach... More

Inside dark and dreary....maybe they are trying to recreate the powder monkey's world inside a ship (?). Menu extensive but the usual 'pub chain' fayre. 2 of their 3 real ales were unavailable; apparently too busy to change the barrels. Only Diet Pepsi available on the soft drink pump. They did have time it seemed, to be playing games behind the... More

Thanks for your review. I am shocked to hear about the real ales- we dont keep 3 on it's actually 8 available; we do like to make sure we clean the lines before any ales go back on too- you will always have atleast 4 available. I am so sorry to hear about the delay on food- we did achieve... More

Had a lovely meal for 9 here, when we visited August Bank Holiday. Was busy but the food was very good and staff great. No faults found for the price.

Yes a typical Wetherspoons with a good range of local real ales. My wife went with the Bells whisky. For a busy Bank Holiday there was sufficient space & the bar was well run
