Inside dark and dreary....maybe they are trying to recreate the powder monkey's world inside a ship (?). Menu extensive but the usual 'pub chain' fayre. 2 of their 3 real ales were unavailable; apparently too busy to change the barrels. Only Diet Pepsi available on the soft drink pump. They did have time it seemed, to be playing games behind the... More

Had a lovely meal for 9 here, when we visited August Bank Holiday. Was busy but the food was very good and staff great. No faults found for the price.

Yes a typical Wetherspoons with a good range of local real ales. My wife went with the Bells whisky. For a busy Bank Holiday there was sufficient space & the bar was well run

Powder Monkey is a Weatherspoons pub. We went there on a Thursday 'curry day' . We actaully ordered a 'Surf and Turf' - with a stilton sauce and Ham egg and chips, 2 pints of Thatchers and a Bombay with tonic. All served promptly and of a reasonable standard. The big plus the cost - £20.79. Simply superb value.

Semi resident in Exmouth we frequently eat out for breakfast, one advantage The Powder Monkey has for us is that you can visit and eat before the shops and other eating places are open. During a recent visit we were disappointed to note that a waitress was wiping her nasal area with the back of her hand and without washing... More

As visitors to Exmouth we were looking for something cheap and cheerful and this ticked all the boxes. Good food, good price and good service, couldn't fault it.

We are regular users of this Wetherspoons for a light lunch, particularly the Ham Egg and Chips. The ham always seems better than other Wetherspoons and the beer is always good. However on our last meeting we were given meals with so few chips we could have counted them on our fingers. I mentioned this to the waitress who agreed... More

The pub itself is now rather tired, some of the staff give the appearance of wishing they were somewhere else, particularly one member who cleans the table with angry vigour crashing the plates without regard for the nearby diners, sweeping any left over food etc onto the the floor, however one server is quite charming and very professional and makes a... Visited today on a busy Sunday lunchtime - so busy in fact that there was no inside seating available. We opted for the Freedom Salad, and 2 Ham Egg & Chips. Service at the bar was prompt and friendly. Unfortunately upon placing the order and having returned to my seat I was told that the Freedom Salad wasn't available. It... More
