Great to be able to take the dog in there, staff were nice and also the atmosphere, good location. The only thing that was not quite suitable was that they did not sell the lager that my partner drinks.

My husband and I recently went to this pub for a meal. There isn't much atmosphere but the beer was good and the food was better. I had Pork cooked 2 ways and my husband had Rump of Devon Lamb. It was all brilliantly cooked and we cleared out plates :) highly recommended for good service and fantastic food :)
While cycling down from Exton on the coastal cycle path my daughter and i saw the banner advertising Fresh Local Mussels at the Grapevine. Pub is very easy to find and very welcoming unfortunately the Mussels were off the menu due to it being spawning season so we settled for Tapas (4 good servings for £10) very wide selection of...

The highlight of our trip. A real find with a decent and well-kept selection of ales and good live music.
We have been in here a number of times. The atmosphere is always good. They always have a selection of local beer on tap and the food has always been good. I understand that they have had a number of different chefs and the menu has changed accordingly but has always been good.
They often have bands in. Be aware...

My partner and I came on a Saturday night for some dinner. The seafood was very tasty but we were disappointed that mussels werent on the menu as had seen adverts for the grapevine and their local mussels around town and were looking forward to trying them... Maybe not served at dinner? Worth checking in advance if you want mussels!...

Had calamari Tapas which was supposed to be salty and crisp. It was soggy, undercooked and not salty. Warm wild boar sausage salad with not much wild boar sausage topped with a poached egg that was hard and seriously overcooked. No one came to check if all was ok until they came to clear the plates.
The Grapevine is a real rarity. Amazing food, great atmosphere, good service, fine ales. Real effort has been made to ensure it's understated, relaxed, accessible but very high quality. Great events take place there, always bustling at weekends. Don't go to East Devon and not check out this great pub in Exmouth. We had a lovely meal there and a...

Me and my wife came down this weekend from Colchester and stayed at a local holiday park near Newton Abbott. We decided to see what Devon had to offer and ventured out and about both days. We went to Crealy adventure park early Sunday morning and left just before lunch and stopped off in Exmouth as it wasn't far away....

It is wonderful that so many people have had a good experience at The Grapevine - good for them. I can safely say that I, being local, have tried it again and again just in case I was wrong (as I am led to believe by other reviews) and I am always left disappointed.
I agree, for a simple drink,...
