This pub is in a wonderful spot but was a complete disappointment when we stopped in for a meal after a long walk this weekend. It would have been easier to overlook the fact that the food was well below average (including a very bland rabbit pie - apparently the pub's speciality) if it weren't for the incredibly rude landlady.... After searching out this restaurant from all the delighful places one can eat around the Dartmoor area because of its 'famous' rabbit pie it was a great let down. The rabbit pie was mainly a white sauce Chicken supreme filled pie with hardly any rabbit meat: not a traditional rabbit pie at all and with a distinct feel of being... More

This is a lovely cosy pub steeped in Dartmoor history. Well worth a visit but don't buy anything. The food and drink is totally overpriced and poor quality. The grumpy manager just makes things worse. What a shame.

After a fabulous walk along the Moor the last thing you need is a huge queue to get to one grumpy bar manager who overcharges you for a drink. There is great potential at the Warren Inn as the views over the moor are quite spectacular but I was embarrassed by the lack of genuine warmth and service, even more... More

Very busy place in the moorlands of South Devon. A roaring fire greeted our family of seven. Nice children's menu with abundant servings. On the regular menu, the chicken with Stilton cheese was outstanding. Great place to stop in and escape from moorland drizzles.

The pub is located in the middle of the Moors , and a great place to have a meal . The fireplace is still burning (for over 150 years now ...) and the walls are covered with it's history . During the day you will have a fantastic view over the surrounding hills and moors , when there isn't any... More

Great old-fashioned pub, steeped in history. Fabulous location. Delicious parsnip and apple soup. Cosy fire. Helpful waitress. But ... Disastrous toilets. Landlady could really do smiling at or engaging with the customer, even in some small way.

The vegetarian choices were good although they double in the evening. The specialty here though is rabbit pie and has been for a lot of years. The view could be describes as bleak even in summer buy miles of grass dotted with sheep which are not fenced in therefore are on the roads. The need to go to moretonhampstead is... More
