Great Location!

We stopped in for drinks after walking on the moor. The pub is in a fantastic location high up on the moor, the views are amazing. The pub was very busy but there was plenty of seating both inside and out. The fire was lit in the main bar as it was very cold outside, this gave the place a... read more

This is a great unspoilt old pub in a beautiful remote setting on the top of the moors with stunning views and lovely food. Step back in time and enjoy some history - the smokey log fire smoulders all year round, the staff are friendly and service good despite being busy. (The Apple & West Country Cider chutney is amazing!)... More

Welcoming pub, stunning location. Unfortunately we were looking forward to a real Cornish pasty while returning home. Instead we had a very bland Meat and Potato pastie as advertised on the menu.(no swede or seasoning) so suggest review your supplier. Otherwise no complaints and definitely worth a visit

We only stopped off for a drink but there was a great atmosphere in the main bar with a cosy fire and well-kept beer. The staff were very friendly and it was obvious that the diners were enjoying their food. Interesting snippets of history around the walls - especially the account of the great snow of 1963. A traditional English... More

As a local landscape photographer their is nothing better than after working for a few hours, to come back to the pub and have some of their famous pie and chips, its a wonderful place to visit, and one of the best pubs i've ever been to, its nice that their is no mobile phone coverage but instead - the... We stopped in here mid walk recently - in fact we purposely planned our walk to arrive here mid was round. It's a lovely little pub, the fire has been burning for 170 years!! We sat just off the main bar and it was very cosy. There is a separate area for families, which is quite nice as families don't... More

Have been going here for very many years. Basic but welcoming and good for a meal what ever the weather. Sit out side in the sun or in if bad. Log fire has been buying for over 100 years.

Had a really lovely, home cooked meal here during a hike on Dartmoor. Warm welcome and fire going even though it was August. Thoroughly recommended.

Having been to so many pubs i was quite open to impressions here and I wanted to see what this '2nd or 3rd highest' pub was like. We did NOT eat here having had a very very good value meal at the Fox Tor cafe in Princetown but having said that, this did seem somewhat expensive judging by the menu... More

Myself and my partner walked from our camping pitch to the beautiful remote pub. We are exhausted from our long walk, and we were greeted with open arms by the wonderful staff of the pub! The one thing I just stress, is how professional and attentive the staff were. Myself and my boyfriend were given the most fantastic service. Hats... More
