The girlfriend and I drove past the Malt Scoop a few times and on Monday night decided to nip in for a bite too eat. Firstly may I say I dont know what standard of cooking Amy D is used to who named her review 'vile evening' not being funny but your not dining at Petrus or Le Gavroche, this... More

Having sampled many pubs within the area I can confidently say that the Malt Scoop is certainly one of the best. We dined at lunch time and were the only ones in the pub; even so there was still more atmosphere than in many other rival pubs. Having recently been restored, the Malt Scoop offers really pleasant surroundings to enjoy... More

A really homely pub that is frequented by friendly locals and visitors. The beer is well kept and the food reasonably priced, tasty and well presented. The menu is fairly extensive but not so long that the kitchen is overstretched, so the food is delivered to table in good time. There are a lot of pubs in this area that... More

Went there and waited over 45 mins for food. When It arrived chips were full of air, fat and grease. Ordered Chicken pie which turned out to be turkey and looked and tasted like slop! Lasagne had green dry pasta and full of grease in the mince. Only good thing was the burger but portions were shocking! Seen bigger portions... More

Came for sunday lunch, good welcome and friendly place and good service, locals being loud (in a nice way) in the bar. Only a few people eating which is a shame for the owners as expected it to be busier. Main of roast beef was very nice, veg took a little time to arrive so meat had cooled a bit... More

Wanted a quiet catch up with a friend, we tucked ourselves away in the dining room with a glass of wine after a friendly greeting from Louise the land lady, delicious meal, nicely served. Will definitely return and would recommend.

I organised a dinner for 25 Colleagues and was attracted by the varied menu and reasonable prices. The land-lady could not have been more helpful- an up-to-date menu was provided and the entire scope of their repertoir opened to us. We issued the orders in advance and extra staff were brought in to accomodate us all. We found a warm... More

We stumbled across this place whilst simply passing through and booked a table for bank holiday Monday. The food was great, all cooked freshly. The staff and locals were extremely friendly and the bonus was it was bingo night!! Would highly recommend this pub if you are after great food surrounded by local charm.

Deciding last minute to go out to lunch on Father's Day was probably a big mistake but we managed to book a table in the "snug" in this rather lovely pub. I'm guessing it has recently been renovated and what a great job they've done although the loo, which entailed going outside on what was a rather wet day could... More

Really impressed by the food in this pub. I had a main meal of cod and prawn cassoulet and it was delicious!
