We stopped off here for a bite to eat after visiting Lydford Gorge and on our way back to our holiday cottage. We'd had a quick look on Tripadvisor and saw this had good reviews, so thought we'd give it a go! On arrival we had a very warm welcome from the bar girl who was very chatty and friendly.... More

We've driven past the Maltscoop on many occasions on journeys to visit our daughter and family in Plymouth. Tonight we finally stopped on our journey and went in. If only we had known how good it was going to be, we would have visited years ago!! A great, traditional village pub - warm welcome, busy single bar full of locals... More

Stayed locally in Furzedon B&B for 3 nights. We were made welcome by staff and locals from the moment we stepped into the pub. We ate there every night afterwards. Good pub food - great chips - and good selection of beers and wines. Thoroughly recommended typical British pub.

Visited recently on spec.very cosy bar, lovely fire and a good feeling of ambience.Dartmoor Ale in tip top condition.staff very attentative and friendly.Food excellent :of Falstaffian proportions.Recommend the local pork snorkers(sausages) served on a bed of creamed potatoes within a giant Yorkie pud, with luscious rich gravy.nice selection of ice creams for dessert. A really enjoyable evening.

Following the Bideford half marathon we were heading back to Plymouth as time was getting on we were looking for a lunch stop. Not knowing the area we spotted the Malt Scoop sign and pulled in. Although the bar was busy with locals we were made to feel welcome by the staff a table was found and menus handed out... More

We came to the Malt Scoop to eat and also stay the night. The staff are so friendly it felt as though we had know them for years. There is a lovely bar with wood burner giving a really nice old traditional pub feel, excellent beers (well looked after), and a varied food menu. We had dinner in the snug... More

We arrived and was made very welcome, food served in small but cosy restaurant. We ordered a prawn cocktail jacket potato, so many prawns!! Scampi and chicken with chips served in a bucket, good portions! Would definitely visit again.
