very sad appearance

Called in for coffee. Huge gaps under rotting window frames and distinctly tired feel. Ok coffee...two mugs for just under a fiver. Pretty grotty really and felt sorry for the staff. Good position and needs investment!

We visited on Easter Monday, for breakfast. This Little Chef is in dire need of renovation, the carpets are torn and worn, window frames are rotted almost to the point of disintegration and tiles missing from the walls in the bathroom. Business was brisk, with holidaymakers returning from Cornwall. My breakfast order took almost half an hour to arrive, yet... More

First time in a little chef for many years, the staff were not only attentive but also eager to please. Had their tuna salad which was very well done and presented, followed by their syrup pancakes which were delicious. Have they turned the corner? I'm not sure as that was the first I had tried, but will certainly try others... More

What did the Little Chef at Sourton Cross remind me of on a damp misty November day with the afternoon light rapidly diminishing - a warm sanctuary of comfort from the cold of Dartmoor? No, more like Bates Motel!! Potholed large and unsurprisingly almost empty carpark at the rear of a one story building, walk past rusting hand rails to... More

Not a good start - was ignored whilst wait at the "wait here to be served" board, so found my own table. The staff outnumbered the diners so not sure why this was so. However, once we were wandering around the restaurant, we soon got some attention and from that point, we got good service. The food is always good... More

We have visited here many times over the years on our way to Cornwall and it became a regular stop for drinks, toast and pancakes. But this was the first time back for about 10 years and what a change! First the good points: very friendly welcome from the waitresses, the tea, coffee, tea cake, scone and ice cream were... More

Stayed at the grotty travelodge next door, the garage and shop were closed so had to eat here, prices are extortion, everyone's meal was poor, I had ham egg and chips, I thought I couldn't go wrong, later that night I couldn't get of the toilet, I was in agony all the next day, feeling sick and having chronic diarrhoea,... Once upon a time, deep in the wooded everglades 5 miles north of Hampstead Heath there existed a little old man who lived on his own, a chef by trade and a rather stoutly fellow by nature and hardly because of it. His haggered appearance was a reflection of his many years as front line chef at the Palace of... More

We stopped here to get a break from slow moving Saturday traffic on the A30. Had we not been very hungry & tired of sitting in the car we would have left and gone elsewhere. I ordered bacon/scrambled egg/toast, my partner fried eggs with toast and we shared a bowl of chips. The grill clearly hadn't been cleaned in a... More

We used to live near here so went here a few times when we were growing up, it wasn't fantastic back then. Whilst driving past last week we were all hungry so called in for a quick meal. It has not changed at all in all those years! We ordered three main courses and a kids meal. None of which... More
