Gordon and Jacqui are pleased to welcome you to their traditional 13th Century Country Inn.Since acquiring the Inn with their family back in August 2012 they have worked hard to return the hostelry back to it's traditional country inn ways.Nestled in 4 acres of pasture land and paddocks, just on the outskirts of the town of Chudleigh, the Inn has beautiful views looking out over the Devon hills. A real countryside location for a traditional country inn.Sit back and enjoy your drink, and a meal maybe, whilst the children can play on our purpose built play tower situated on the lawns. With a warm welcome for all - including your dogs, even your horse!Families and 'mucky boot' friendly...we look forward to welcoming you soon.

A bit of an odd place!

This is a beautiful old building, that has been sympathetically restored and in a lovely rural setting and easily accessible from the main roads - came across it quite by chance a couple of Sunday's ago and dropped in for a drink. Staff seemed friendly enough, if a bit curt at times. But why in a... read more

I admit I'm a snob and don't go to places with adverts on a motorway or A road but the Highwaymans Haunt is the most fantastic building, it has been there so long it looks like it has grown out of the ground, truly enchanting. The garden is also lovely with views across the soft green Devon countryside. What a... More

Either you went to the wrong pub or this is a vindictive, invented report. More

During our stay in Chudleigh we visited here twice and both times the food and service were fantastic. A lovely and traditional pub inside with a lovely large garden and outside area. A good selection of food on the menu all of which we really enjoyed. Would recommend and would eat there again.

We held our daughter`s birthday lunch here yesterday and it was truly a lovely afternoon. There were 18 in our party with two young children (not always easy to cater for) but everyone was very pleased with their meals which were hot, tasty and served promptly. Jacqui and her staff were kind and friendly and joined in with the happy... More

Words can not express how bad our experience of this pub has been, prior to this evening we had eaten here once before. The meal arrived and was different to what we had ordered but the service was good, the staff apologetic and the meal refunded so we decided to give it another chance due to the lovely surroundings and... I first chose not to reply to this woman's review because the whole episode was self-inflicted and her account was totally incorrect. I felt that anyone reading the account could guess this anyway. As soon as the review appeared someone from Plymouth (unknown to me) wrote to Tripadvisor about their experience of how this woman could have spoilt their evening... More

I have been eating at this venue for at least 2 years. Up til this Saturday it has always proved to be very satisfactory. We arrived to meet friends on my partners birthday. Had drinks in the bar and then went to our table. We ordered main courses and as a Coeliac, I stressed to the waiter that although the... More

We were a party of 7 who arrived for a meal, on arrival we were told no tables were available. We could see several unbooked tables in the half empty pub but it was plain they just did not want the extra work. Looking at the reviews we did not miss much and the place we did eat at was... More

Can you be more informative please. Tell me on which day this visit occurred, were you booked in (I will then have your name and phone number) and what time did you arrive? I will then investigate your complaint if you were treated this way, which is very unusual.. I'm am, however, interested that you gave us a one star... More

Staff were welcoming to us and our 2 dogs. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. As we are frequent visitors to Finlake we will definitely be visiting again!
