My first visit, certainly not my last!

I had been meaning to try this place for years....thankfully I was not disappointed! A beautiful country pub with a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. They had a good selection of local ales and ciders as well as great coffee. The menu was varied already and all the food was homemade and fresh!

The car park is large but if you arrive too late it may be full. Both the food and service we had were great. There is outdoor seating but when we went it was raining when we arrived. Dogs are welcome on a lead.

I've not ever written a review for a restaurant before but was so disappointed with our trip this evening I wanted to write something. It wasn't just one thing but lots of little things that led up to a frustrating visit in total. Living nearby we had previously visited several times and always enjoyed good food, service and a family... More

Unfortunately, the chef has recently left this restaurant and gone elsewhere. After several successful visits here in the past, it is now mediocre. The staff are not properly trained as restauant staff, one feels. Tghe cooking was unimaginative but the proces still pretty high. Not to be recommended at the moment.

Passed here so many times decided to stop on our way back home from a camping trip. It's beautiful! Staff welcomed us and very friendly. Had the steak and ale pie and wife had the chilli. Perfectly cooked and huge portions. Nice selection of drinks too. Very dog friendly as well. It really is a gem. Best thing is on... More

We were o holiday nearby and had searched reviews for places to eat and this came up. We booked for the steak night and the kids ate from the children's menu. The meal was excellent, the customer service very good, the area beautiful and it was exceptional value for money. We would highly recommend.

We've been here on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. There's a good choice of cask ales and wines available. The last time we went they had Skinners Splendid Tackle which is a great ale. The pub has a number of dining rooms and they are also dog friendly which is useful if on holiday. The food... More

The sign on the A38 coincided with lunchtime, so we called in. What a gem! Inside was spacious and clean, the staff were friendly and the pointed out that there was a climbing frame in the beer garden at the bottom. So that was the children sorted. Traditional pub fayre done really well, the kids had burgers which looked great... More

a week night meal, not overly busy, took 1 hour 20 minutes to get our meals, one arrived 20 minutes before the other 4, when we questioned the server he promptly got shouted at by the chef which we could hear clearly from the garden where we were sat, what a terrible experience, the servers couldn't be more helpful and...
