Excellent meal only yards off A38, anyone looking to stop on the way to Plymouth/ Cornwall should consider here. Good garden with an excellent play area for children.

We had a family celebration lunch on Easter Sunday when it was very busy. We were all very impressed by the care and attention we received. The Sunday roast was gorgeous and served very quickly considering there were 10 of us on a busy Sunday. there were 5 children in our group who were made to feel very welcome. The... More

This place could be fantastic. The staff are welcoming and the scampi is ok. We never seem to find anything out of the ordinary on the menu. Nice place for a drink with friends, but hardly a knock out when it comes to food.

This place IS fantastic. Our menu is varied and changes regularly with our 'Specials Board'. Thanks for your observations, though. More

I'd heard really good things about the highwayman, but have to say we were very disappointed. Poor customer service, a long wait on food, dirty and unprepared tables.

This is your first Tripadvisor Review. "I don't believe it". You come on 15/03/15, Mother's Day, we had 340 covers and when everyone else told us it was brilliant and were full of praise, I too, am disappointed......about your comments. Is there a hidden agenda here? More

As a visitor to local Finlake lodges, we wanted somewhere local to eat rather than on site. This pub had good reviews which is why we tried it but to be honest was disappointed. We booked a table as there were 5 of us and we're showed to our table by the manager I think, Jacqui. The waitress was not... More

It sounds like you did have 'an off night'. Sincere apologies. Jacqui, my partner, remembers your visit, but was unaware of your 'O.K. only' food. The young waitress has been 'suitably chastised' by me for her lack of service, and she too apologised. She said she 'had a bad day', but sadly, that is no excuse. We receive many guests... More

We eat here quite often, usually as a couple, sometimes in a larger group. Food is always excellent, hot and very well presented. The service is welcoming, friendly and warm. Quite a quant place with a trendy twist, worth a visit.

What more could you ask for. Relaxing pub with selection of fine drinks and great bar snacks. We took our dogs and they were as welcomed as we were. Food quality very good and overall great experience. Recommend visiting here. Great garden as well

We too, love our dogs.... and cats...and horses. We are, as you know, a country destination pub, dogs should always be welcome, just like their well behaved owners. Thanks for your kind comments, see you again soon, we hope More
