As the title says, an amazing location in Dartmoor NP. Supremely professional service in a beautiful traditional wood-panelled house and exquisite grounds. Stunning food in flavour and presentation. Very expensive and very formal, but not inappropriately so. Highly recommended for a special treat.

Took my partner there for her birthday, We were offered and accepted complimentary champagne on arrival. Had advised them that my partner was a pescatarian, and so her menu was designed for her taste and mine for me as I am a carnivour. We choose the set menu, and enjoyed some beautiful canapés followed by several courses of beautiful food... More

Fantastic night at Gidleigh. When I booked our stay I phoned the hotel to book a table for the evening. Was told a table had already been booked for us, great ☺. Was asked about any dietry requirements, we are both veggie, no problem. Any special occasion? It was my partners birthday. OK I was told. When we arrived WOW,... More

There are many excellent restaurants, many of those have the faultless service you come to expect with "Relais Chateaux", and some even have the spectacular setting, but so far there is only one to bring them all together and then add a touch of "something special" - Gidleigh Park. From the moment you walk through the door you feel at... More

A friend and I had been promising ourselves a meal at Gidleigh Park for years, and eventually summoned up the wherewithal and another friend, plus my mother who was staying with me. I live a 40-minute drive away, so getting there and back wasn't a problem - except that we all had to undo our waist-band buttons for the return... More

I was lucky enough to stay at Gidleigh Park for 2 nights for my 30th birthday this year and had a fantastic experience. We went for the a la carte menu on the first night with wine flight, then on the second night we had the 8-course tasting menu, again with wine flight. The food was superb and the wine... More

We recently stayed here for a special occasion and on the second night ate in the restaurant. Oh dear, a menu which was outdated and not very special was presented. I have been to Michelin two star restaurants before, mostly in France where the cooking is exceptional. Here the menu was dull. The lobster raviolini was fine, but not terrific,... More

We met top chef, James Martin, at Ascot Races. He told us that he'd recently had the best meal of his life at Gidleigh Park. So, as it was only an hour or so from our holiday destination, Padstow, we booked a lunch. The setting is stunning, if remote (DON'T drive a big car. The lanes are tiny.) and the... More
