A quick summary: Friendly knowledgable, staff; delicious food and wine; small schoolboy error with a fish dish being seriously overcooked spoilt an otherwise lovely evening; don't expect Michael Caine to be cooking your meal, he isnt always in the kitchen at this restaurant. He was apparently cooking in Dubai when we were there!

Me and partner visited yesterday for an afternoon tea. We arrived half an hour early so decided to take a walk around the impressive and beautifully kept gardens. From the first moment we walked in we were welcomed by highly professional staff that made our stay so warm and welcoming. We were shown into the lounge where we were seated... More

A challenge to reach this restaurant with the last 1.5 miles down a single track pot-holed driveway but well worth the effort! A very relaxing ambience. Food and service superb with efficient and welcoming staff. Overall a delightful experience.

Classic French cuisine can be too traditional and consequently somewhat passé. If it is tweaked to give it a modern edge, it can be outstanding and this is precisely what Michael Caines has achieved at Gidleigh Park. The hotel has a sense of luxury about it, but we were unable to commence the evening by luxuriating in the surroundings as... More

We had a two night stay at Gidleigh and had the tasting menu the first evening, followed by the a la carte the following evening. Both were an absolute masterclass in flavour, texture and technique. I choose the "wine flight" with the tasting menu, and it did not disappoint, although it did leave me somewhat inebriated! If I'm being hyper-critical,... More

Fantastic food and service from start to finish! We were excited to return to Gidleigh Park to treat my Sister and Brother-in-law to lunch. We all enjoyed every mouthful and moment. The wine is expensive, although very good, however the food is not over-priced at all, and a total culinary delight. Thank you Michael and team.

If we want to treat ourselves to something very special we book a couple of nights at Gidleigh. We've done that three times now and the experience just gets better each time as we get to know the staff, the rooms and the walks around Gidleigh that much better. With the care and comfort and excellence that is delivered it's... More

When you've worked hard and saved enough to have the privilege of being able to dine in a Michelin starred restaurant, it immediately becomes abundantly clear why such places receive the accolades they do. The service was absolutely impeccable - as unobtrusive, efficient and slick as I've experienced anywhere; from the greeting at the front door to the goodbyes after... More
