Just come back from Gidleigh Park after a lovely lunch to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. At every step they couldn't have been kinder or more (unobtrusively) attentive: from the lovely appetisers in the lounge, to the amazing petits fours with coffee. Not cheap (of course!) but definitely worth every penny. Luckily we only live a few miles down river... More

...make sure you have experienced Gidleigh. OK, it's not cheap but it does offer true value for money. The current winter lunch offer is a good place to start. Three courses for under £50. You know it will be at least double that at the end but this level of food & service has to be paid for. Stunning location,... More

This is close to perfection for fine dining and the atmosphere not only here in Uk but anywhere in the world. Michael's dishes are wonderfully composed and execution and tastes are simply amazing. Yes I'm a fan. Have been for a long time. We managed to pop down for Saturday lunch. Our first visit since last October. If you have... More

A wonderful gift....we were thoroughly spoilt from the moment we arrived at this most beautiful of houses. There are not enough superlatives to describe the elegance of Gidleigh Park. The lounge with its beautiful wood paneling, wood burner, period furniture and games selection 'hugs' you whilst the lovely staff serve endless, delicious sandwiches, cakes, scones and tea.......fit for Queen Victoria... The finest of fine dining in the friendliest of hotels set in stunningly beautiful gardens. My husband and I were fortunate to spend a very relaxing and indulgent weekend at Gidleigh. It was THE most perfect of weekends and thank you to all the staff there for making it so.

We have been to Gidleigh a number of times over the years and it never disappoints. The service is flawless and the imaginative food is a joy. We normally take the set lunch menu, which is theoretically a three course meal, but with all the extras it actually feels more like 6 courses. It is certainly sufficient for us at... More
