Charmingly decorated little café/restaurant situated in the square in Chagford. We called in for a cup of tea and a bacon baguette. Lovely cuppa made with loose leaf tea and very tasty bacon nicely cooked in a crisp warm baguette. We would definitely go again.

We were recommended to have lunch here by relatives in Devon. We had to wait a while for a table, but it was definitely worth the wait. I had a jacket potato with ham and cheese - lovely mature cheddar and thick slices of proper ham and dressed mixed salad, not the usual limp lettuce and tasteless tomato. All the... More

Popped into the birdcage after a walk on the moor on a blustery showery day. Lovely friendly service, comfortable surroundings, great pot of tea and the nicest carrot cake I've ever had. Thank you!

Popped in for coffee and cake, 5ish on a wet afternoon, the welcome was very warming, real tea with a tea-strainer, very good coffee, and fantastic homemade cake, also bought some homemade award winning jam. They also have Taco & cocktail evenings Fridays & Saturdays. Will certainly be back.

I so enjoyed my first visit today, the waitress was so helpful suggesting gluten free options and their coffee is fabulous. The gluten free scone was the best I have ever been offered too. Plenty of GF choices from the soup to wraps, all with imaginative fillings, and presented well. I will return again having found this hidden treasure!

Popped in during lunch and had soup with a savoury scone. Great homemade food and quirky chic decor. Great service.

Had brilliant service and superb quality and quantity of food today at The Birdcage in Chagford. The salad was so beautifully presented with a wonderful selection of grapes, butternut squash and cherry tomatoes and the Stickytoffee Pudding was truly superb.

On holiday near Chagford and we went to the Birdcage for a coffee Saturday morning and noticed that they were open for dinner on Friday and Saturday evening. We booked a table for that evening as there are only 5 tables inside and fortunately we did so as all seats were taken by locals. Lindsey, the server was very friendly... More
