A charming little restaurant in a charming little village, that is what you can expect. But what is more: the staff (Charlie) is very friendly, yet professional. The food is excellent, even though it is not complicated: the chef knows what he is doing and clearly enjoys it. I understand the restaurant will not be around for much longer, so... More

This is a wonderful restaurant and a real surprise to find it in a small place like Chagford. The atmosphere was very relaxing. The restaurant was busy, but the service was very quick and efficient. The food was delicious. We walked in off the street without a booking and they were very welcoming. I would recommend you do book though... More

My partner and I had a truly wonderful 3-course evening meal at Whiddon's Eatery last night. The food was exceptional, especially the celeriac crumble that accompanied our beautifully cooked roast beef. The evening menu is extremely good value, considering the great quality of the food and the very generous portion sizes! The restaurant has a lovely cosy atmosphere and our... More

We had a nice evening at Whiddons Eatery in the beautiful small city of Chagford. The food was delicious and the staff most helpful and welcoming. The atmosphere is cosy and warm. Our best recommendations. Best to book a table in advance.

A small dining room in what seemed like their front room was laid with tables for diners. We ordered the special pie of the day.... Steak with mushrooms and Guinness, which my partner said had deliciously short pastry and tender flavoursome chuck steak. My eggs florentine came piping hot and still managed runny yolks with muffin soldiers to dip. Puddings... More

Have been here several times and never been disappointed. It is family run and like eating in someone's dining room. The menu is small and tonight there was a choice of four things for starters and mains. I had a delicious chicken and bacon terrine that was wonderfully firm. This was followed by duck breast on celeriac puree with wild... More

Really delicious homecooked gourmet food, and the desserts are utterly wonderful (I had a huge meringue). The staff are very friendly and well informed, and can`t do enough to make your meal special. Has no liquor licence so can BYO and the dinner prices are very reasonble. Would definitely go back again.
