This place has had money spent on it and, clearly, the St Austell Brewery aims for it to be a bit special. We ordered lunch of crab sandwiches which were very tasty and on delicious bread, but smallish - no salad at all and six crisps on my plate. Six crisps, why bother? The plate looked mean for £10.95 per... More

I have now eaten here three times whilst on work visits. I am from London and a good cook so to find excellent, creative bar and restarant food here in such a setting is precious. Service is helpful and unobtrusive, food is elegant and tasty, pricing is good value. Visit if you are down this way..

Really good staff - efficient and friendly, food was very good quality. Menu a bit limited (no poultry and our preferred starter was unavailable) but the parma ham with figs and then 'posh' burger were top quality.

What a lovely place. Very old yet beautifully refurbished and designed without being spoilt. The new wood work is a beauty to behold. The staff were charming, attentive and considerate. We had a small problem with one of our meals and it was no problem at all for them to change it and for us to choose another dish. Fantastic,... More

We took a chance on getting a table at The Three Crowns, walking in at 8:30 on a Saturday night without a booking and although they were packed to the rafters, were advised that if we were willing to wait for a while they could take our order in half an hour or so. Very grateful to be squeezed in,... More

The bar food in this establishment at lunchtime is really excellent. I can thoroughly recommend the crab open sandwich. The ale is also very good. I think my favourite was called Tribute. The restaurant is very bright and modern, and in line with the rest of the hotel, the staff are just superb. My preference is for fish, and in... More

As a local it is very confusing to work out what the three crowns hotel is trying to be, the rooms are fantastic and the food pretty good, but what have they done to the bar? sitting in the bar is a bit like sitting in a doctor's waiting room, it is pretty soul less and the character of the... I've been here a couple of times now as my parents have a holiday cottage in Chagford. I've been for both lunch and dinner (on different occasions!) and can highly recommend both. It is wonderful! Amazing food - especially the mussels and burgers - and a really nice ambience.

The restaurant is a combination of old building and modern add on. The service was efficient and friendly and the the food I had on the second night (mushroom burger) was good but the previous nights meal of fish n chips was mainly batter with a thin sliver of fish and my fellow guests suffered very tough lamb, so much...
