Country hotel, friendly staff and good food.

Wonderful friendly hotel in the middle of Dartmoor. Very friendly and efficient receptionist, cosy ,comfortable room only spoilt by the noise of the kitchen extractors fans. Good food, nicely presented and very good service. And Chagford is a great little town, ideal to explore Dartmoor... read more

We had high expectations of this place given its exterior and were really disappointed that the service was pretty amateur and let down the overall experience. Despite booking we were told that our table was not ready, this was at 6pm!, waiter promised to send menus that failed to arrive as well as the promise of a bottle of water.... More

Having booked a table for four for 1930 we waited almost an hour for our £9 starter, 3 cut in half scallops. Then after a further hour we were presented with our main courses which were cold. Having 'downed tools' we waited a further 10 minutes before a woman presented us with a tiny bowl of veg to accompany our... More

After being kept waiting for 45 minutes for our starter, which was three portions of half scallops, for over £8, without any apologies for the delay, we then waited a further 45 minutes for our main courses, which were delivered cold, with a perfunctory apology (they were not supposed to be cold) and then asked to wait a further 10... The worst Hotel experience in a long time. Soulless and "run by kids", the Three Crowns was a huge disappointment and we would recommend The Globe Hotel by far.

We were booked in for 1pm for lunch - a family of 10 it was a special occasion. Whilst we were being served our drinks I had a whole pint of shandy dropped down my side by the waitress. She was apologetic (I accept that accidents happen) so I tried not to fuss and left shortly thereafter to get changed... More

My partner and I spent a lovely warm summer evening here. We sat outside in their courtyard with a nice jug of pimms and then enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere to it. Food, wine and service were all excellent!

Coffee & cake in the sunshine! We noted they had a special offer on, cake & hot drink for £3.75, so sat outside, in the sunshine, with our 2 dogs. The cake (only one choice, but luckily one we love) was pineapple upside down cake, & the coffee came with those lovely little caramel biscuits. Lovely value.

We had a drink, ploughman's and chips as it was before dinner service which starts at 1800. The ploughman's was nice but small and expensive for what it was. Good service and decor in a lovely building. Would like to try dinner sometime.

We arrived to have lunch and after 20 minutes sat without anyone even taking a drinks order we walked out.
