Starters we had sea food platter for two: salmon prawns and crab with two sorts of bread. Very fresh and tasty. Scallops would have been nice which one guest had on their own and declared excellent. A selection of breads was also highly enjoyed. Mains: belly of pork good, linguini also sirloin steak good flavour but a little chewy. Too... More

The food was good maybe a change in ,menu a couple of times a week would have been good, as we ate for the three nights. Service was good, but slow, but we were not in a rush.

A group of us had dinner. Excellent service, nice decor. Menu good choices. Most of our food was good, although a couple of the steaks weren't perfect but to be fair we didn't take issue. Waitress was lovely and smiley. Negative point is the use of boards, personally I hate them. So our starter and main were served this way.... More

We had an early (6pm) dinner in the back room, under the glass ceiling. I had a wonderful fish and chips; my husband, a burger. Both were very generous portions and the service was good.

beautifully situtated in Dartmoor. One of the best meals I have had in a long time and very good value. Nothing was too much trouble. I started with the mackerel fillets on beetroot and celeriac coleslaw........fresh and light mackerel. My partner had tomato and basil soup and delightfully it was just that; no sign of the ubiquitous cream that seems... More

We had a long 20 minute wait for our first contact with a server, food was only average, presentation and preparation mediocre, and ambiance harsh (lighting too bright and noise bounced off hard surfaces). Inattentive service throughout dinner and we worked very hard to catch anyone's attention when ready to leave. We were not favorably impressed at all.

There is a good range of food to choose from, but I went for a burger and it was the tastiest burger I've ever had! The staff were really friendly and helpful too. There was a wedding on at the same time, but this didn't affect the level or speed of service at all. Thanks very much Three Crowns!

We arrived in Chagford at 8.30pm on Sunday night and were told we would be lucky to find anywhere that would serve supper (understandably!) We slunk in to The Three Crowns very swanky new (at least to us, as we hadn't been there for at least 10 years!) interior expecting to be turned away and instead were welcomed to a... More

We ate here twice during our four night stay at the hotel. Both times I was impressed with the quality of the food and service, which was both friendly and professional. The standard menu is reasonably appealing although feels a bit like it's been designed by a consultant to make sure no-one's left out, but as long as it's cooked... More

The whole experience is very good. The hotel is owned by a large company and they know how to do things, you will be looked after properly. If you want to sit outside for a while then move into the dining room, fine. Want to move outside for coffee, fine - everything goes smoothly. The building and dining room is... More
