Took a break from driving on the A38 here, for a midmorning coffee and snack. What strikes as an ex-pub has a cold unwelcoming atmosphere which comes with tatty decor, dirty tiled floors, and a not so clean toilet (only one for all). The coffee proved to be the worst we have had for a very long time and, when... More

We arrived, weary, in Ashburton just as all the local pubs stopped serving lunch; we were turfed out of one Ye Olde sticky-tabled establishment just up the street. How lucky we then were with this find as the Moorish restaurant was still open. I was a bit reluctant as we entered (not a great fan of lentils, houmus and the... More

I was in Ashburton to take my daughter to her clarinet exam, held in the old School - altogether an old school experience. While she was being examined I had a look for a suitable place to take her for a drink and a snack before returning her to real school. Having rejected several places I came across Moorish and... Serve the best coffee in the Westcountry! Intimate feel and artisan decor. Friendly helpful attentive staff. Centrally placed with parking not too far away.Well appointed toilets. Well worth a visit!

The sign in the window specifically said they were open Tuesday evenings. When we arrived, another couple was waiting in the street. We waited and waited, but nothing. If a staff member is sick, or can't come for some other reason, they should have someone put a sign on the door. Failure to do do shows a total lack of... More

We are sorry we were closed on that specific Tuesday evening. Had we been in a position to place a 'closed for the evening " note we would have done so. We recommend that customers call to book a table, especially in the evenings. Kind Regards, Olga Greedy owner More

We have been visiting Moorish over the last 10 years and have never failed to find it anything other than a relaxed and enjoyable experience whilst the food is reliably good. What is particularly good is that you can be sure of the menu being authentic Spanish tapas (with Morrocan flavours) and not like restaurants who serve up a not... More

Excellent café/restaurant in Ashburton. Have visited this place twice now and enjoyed good food on both occasions. Good North African type cuisine, well cooked. The service whilst I was there was excellent. Tables are not too close together so you're not listening to other people's conversations. Price not too bad. I'd go again when I visit the area.

Nice atmosphere to meet up for a chat or even mini-meeting. Good quick service, but by no means the best coffee in town.

We decided to pop down to Moorish for dinner as we have been meaning to for some time. The young staff were very friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was ambient and the place noticeably clean and well cared for. Being vegetarian I found the menu limited but went for the pancakes. They came pretty quickly which was great as I... More
