Welcoming and happy to refer other places for us

Having read varying reviews from other sites I am compelled to provide a positive experience from a visit on a weekday lunchtime in March. We were welcomed with a small dog in tow by some local looking types and having a chat with the barmaid and finding they were not serving food today, she was... read more

we walked into this pub with our 10 year old ( which it clearly states on a board 10 years and over) to be challenged by the bar lady across the entire pub how old was our daughter ? To which I replied 10 which she is , for her to roll her eyes and continue to have a conversation... More

On a few days break, with family, we ate one evening in the Blue Anchor. It was busy but one would hope it was. There were fresh fish dishes available, as you would expect, being on the sea front. The food arrived fairly swiftly was served up by a kitchen hand, in a polyester football shirt who was less than... More

Nice little drinking pub with a good atmosphere, especially when there is good quality music. Have been before and enjoyed it a lot, however, on this occasion was disappointed by the service from the barmaid/land lady over a slight misunderstanding that could've resulted very differently having been dealt with differently on her part. Maybe that's one reason why they are... More

Service was refused because it was believed that one of your party had had enough to drink - I don't think that as you were leaving shouting vile obscenities including the c word and then trying to start a fight with the people stood outside the pub could have been delt with in any other way ?. and as for... How refreshing to find a real pub filled with and staffed by real people - many thanks to the lady in Tourist information for pointing us in the right direction when we asked for a real old fashioned pub. Lots of banter, involving the tourists with the locals plus good ale and cider all contributed to the experience. Even the... More

This is a typical old style Pub where the locals like to go and drink. Can be very crowded around the bar area where they like to sit and can be rather reluctant to move when trying to order drinks and food. If you like that sort of thing then it is a good place to just sit and listen... More

Just returned from a wonderful weekend in Brixham Devon. After reading some of the reviews on here, I felt compelled to also make a review. We also visited The Blue Anchor pub/restaurant. Our first visit was so enjoyable, we frequented it several times during our 4 day stay. The staff and locals/visitors were really welcoming, even our pooch was spoilt... More

Went for a pint with my mum and a friend. What can I say? The staff and locals alike were wonderful. You turn up as a stranger and walk away thinking you have a new group of mates. What a fantastic place. Really recommend.

Quirky little pub on the harbour. Staff & customers are characters! But food was less than average: Brown & white meat baguette was crammed full of too much brown crab meat, no white, actually a bit off putting & difficult to eat & the pub & toilets felt unclean. I'd go again for a quirky pint but not to eat.

We always visit the Blue Anchor when on holiday here in Brixham Was disapointed to learn last November they have stopped doing Sunday lunches, something we hope they will re-instate soon. However have eaten in the evenings since then and would recommend the cottage pie. A good hearty meal reasonably priced .
