Welcoming and happy to refer other places for us

Having read varying reviews from other sites I am compelled to provide a positive experience from a visit on a weekday lunchtime in March. We were welcomed with a small dog in tow by some local looking types and having a chat with the barmaid and finding they were not serving food today, she was... read more

Went for a pint with my mum and a friend. What can I say? The staff and locals alike were wonderful. You turn up as a stranger and walk away thinking you have a new group of mates. What a fantastic place. Really recommend.

Quirky little pub on the harbour. Staff & customers are characters! But food was less than average: Brown & white meat baguette was crammed full of too much brown crab meat, no white, actually a bit off putting & difficult to eat & the pub & toilets felt unclean. I'd go again for a quirky pint but not to eat.

We always visit the Blue Anchor when on holiday here in Brixham Was disapointed to learn last November they have stopped doing Sunday lunches, something we hope they will re-instate soon. However have eaten in the evenings since then and would recommend the cottage pie. A good hearty meal reasonably priced .

Went for a pint. Certainly an old fashioned, locals type boozer. Friendly enough. No real ale on (impression it might be changing hands?) OK pint of Guinness. The overriding smell of old cooking oil/fast would not entice me to eat there.

We happened upon this place by chance and were glad we did. The beer and wine were great, the atmosphere very friendly and there was a real character behind the bar who regularly broke into song in true Thespian style. Wonderful and highly recommended! I agree with one other reviewer, the lights could be dimmed a little but that's advice... More

Wonderful old pub by the harbour, full of great characters and with a fabulous, roaring fire to help banish the winter chill. Great ale and very decent rioja. Highly recommended! Only slight quibble, the lighting could have been a bit less bright.

Went in for a drink and found a really great welcome from both the locals (and their dogs) and the chap behind the bar. Would have loved to stay for a meal in the cosy restaurant but were dining elsewhere

Enjoyed a drink in here on Friday evening. Must say that it does seem a local orientated pub although thankfully it is not clicky
