As good as ever

Over for Hertford's London III game we popped into the Cornerstone for a sharpener after lunch. It was just as good as last year with a great welcome and the usual familiar faces. Great beer as ever - 'tis the place in Guernsey for me

When in St Peter Port we always visit here both for drinks and an evening meal. We both had the soup which was red chilli and tomato which was not too spicey-I had made sure before ordering.I had Scollops which came on a bed of bacon, mash potato and seperate dish of cabbage and swede. My wife had Lamb shank with mash... No fancy frills. No arty-farty presentation. Just good food at a reasonable price. Manages to find the right balance between feeding us grockles and being a watering hole for the locals. Well done!

Ate here on our last night in Guernsey. Such a friendly place. Evening meals served between 6-8pm and well worth a visit. Good prices too.

Great atmosphere pretty good menu and excellent service. Dress code is casual and everything is very well done, you will go back a few times if in Guernsey regularly.

We had to search out this place, as google maps seems to place it in completely the wrong part of St Peter Port (at least on an iPhone). We're glad we did; we pitched up quite late on a Friday evening not far before the kitchen's cut off of 8pm. However, we didn't feel at all rushed and ordered a... More

Comprehensive and excellent menu, it's simple pub food, but done very well. A range of real ales and the staff are all very friendly. Do need to book a table if there's a rugby international. Clientele are generally more mature professionals. A pub for beer drinkers.

A great atmosphere. But.... not sure about the beer - the barrel had just been changed when we ordered a pint. Not sure the pipes were cleared through sufficiently before our pint was served.

Thank you for posting your review on tripadvisor, I am pleased that you enjoyed the atmosphere, but disappointed that the beer didn't reach our usual high standards. I apologise and can offer no excuse! As 6 times winner of Camra Guernsey Pub of The Year award, we do try to ensure the perfect pint every time. I am sorry that... More

We really do have to recommend this Free-house pub/eatery very highly. It’s one of those cosy ‘pubby’ places where you immediately feel comfortable and don’t have to get dressed up to the nines. We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome from Steve the barman and Richard the proprietor as soon as we stepped through the door. The guys were... More

This is a good real ale pub with usually 3 real ales including the local Liberation ale. It has sky TV for sports lovers. Its best points are its friendliness and hospitality, and its superb menu. As well as the good standard menu there is an excellent specials board with a choice of several extra dishes. There are lots of... More
