A perfect French cafe experience

Having previously visited the Bistro I knew the food in the cafe would be excellent and I was not disappointed. Everything was perfectly cooked and you feel you are transported for the evening to a little bit of rural France. Although the food was food, the service ruined the experience. Dirty table and an indifferent, rude waiter. Had to ask for check three times and got it only when he brought a check to the adjoining table. Some people refer to this place as "quirky." Rudeness in a cute atmosphere is not quirky, it's just plain rudeness.

Great little place. We actually had hoped to eat in the Petit Bistro (same building) but ti was booked up. The cafe however was wonderful!

Had a lunch with some friends. It wasn't very busy, the staff is friendly but it took ages to get our order in and get served, that was the only downside. But the food was excellent as always, never had a bad meal here or the main restaurant, been few times over the years. We all had frog legs for... More

My wife and I visit Guernsey usually only once a year but make certain that we eat at Le Petit Bistro at least once during our six day trip; this time we went three times for dinner. My wife says that the food is the best she has ever had and I must say that the quality is top class;... More

Had a lovely lunch here and came back again later in the week (that Croque Monsier is literally the best of it's kind I've had!). The service was a bit slow, but really nice atmosphere inside, there's no where on the island quite like it as far as I can see. Can't wait to visit again!

Our one course dinner took 2 hours. The service was very slow, the noise level was so high that conversation was impossible, the seats were extremely uncomfortable, the table size was tiny and the bill was high - altogether an unpleasant, expensive dining experience.

A charming little cafe with a great busy atmosphere. We had a quick lunch here and it reminds us of a typical French cafe in the middle of Paris! We met the owner who was very helpful. She explained some of the menu to us as we had some questions. The staff were all very efficient and friendly and the... More

This charming little place had it all. My friend was delighted with his bacon & egg roll (an early lunch) and I loved my salad with fresh fish. It was described as being

Went for a late lunch after cycling round the island. Walked through the door and it immediately felt like a good place. Excellent service. Friendly, gave you plenty of time and very positive feel. Lunch was coq au vin plus boullibaise. The coq au vin was very good. The boullibaise was excellent. Lovely soup/sauce with plenty lovely fish. Both meals... More
