Stunning Evening

Just been to the Curry Room at the Old Government house Hotel. Probably the most expensive curry I have ever had but really good value for money. £55 per person including wines for each of 3 courses. Just superb.

Tasting menu with wine flight superb, only about 20 covers so do book. Food was full of flavour, we had the prawns and the lamb, good size portions and excellent selection of wines.

I've been to the Curry Room a number of times before and always had fantastic food and service. However, when I visited recently the menu seemed to have been stripped back to more basic ingredients. The presentation had gone down as well and overall the taste was bland. We also had a corked wine and the tap water was undrinkable... More

We spent a week at The Old Government House Hotel in Guernsey. My husband was particularly looking forward to a meal (or two) in The Curry Room. Firstly the restaurant itself is lovely - intimate, nicely decorated with attentive staff and a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately the dining experience was a huge let down! The starter was satisfactory only. The main... More

As we were residents we chose Sunday to eat at the Curry Club as Guernsey seems to close down on Sundays. So looking forward to the meal but disappointed as it was bland for both of us. Our waitress Andra was superb and got extra chutneys to see if it would help. The curries are cooked South African style and... More

This was the first time of trying The Curry Room and we had very high expectations. Starter nice, my main course was a lamb curry which was no more than a very bland stew, wifes chicken dish was made with brown meat and again bland. I must say the waiter was fantastic though.

A brilliantly evocative dining room, full of Raj relics and pictures. Service can be slow, as the food seems to come from the same general kitchen and the number of covers if very small. But a great experience and with the signature "Jeeves" standard of service that is a feature of OGH.

Birthday dinner at the restaurant for a table of six. It is intimate and carefully lit room, no staff were present when we arrived and we had to go and find someone. Took almost an hour from sitting until the first course arrived, but we were served popudoms not long after we sat down and there were only only 2... More

This a different experience to traditional UK curry restaurants. Situated in Old Government House hotel, we were offered a very limited set price menu, which, in the main was very tasty. The food was very well presented in a tiny room, maximum about 20 diners. The decor seemed designed to take the guest back to the days of the empire... More
