Went here for lunch with grand daughter and great grand daughter. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We both had salads which were excellent with some "different" ingredients. The little one was well catered for, although they do not have anything to amuse children. We sat outside as the weather was quite reasonable and eating outside makes it something special!... More

Dear JandT60, Thank you very much for your great review. I'm really happy to see that you enjoyed our salads with their little 'different' ingredients. As with most of our dishes we try and take something traditional and add a little 'zing' to it. You really have to try the beaded brie salad with the honey mustard dressing and fresh... More

had a couple of meals here, the food is good and good value, we had a cool welcome on the night we went for dinner, they were expecting a big party so we were offered either a table in the corner by the bar, or a table by the kitchen which we took, (too late to go elsewhere) the service... More

Just been to the merchant house and had an exquisite meal. The whole menu was tempting and I had to decide finally on the the scallops risotto and a fresh crab salad. Presentation, freshness, taste and service were full mark. Fabian was attending our table and was very helpful to help me chose without being overfussing. Very professional experience.

Found The Merchant House by accident and a great discovery. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The food is excellent, a good menu selection and beautifully cooked. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, but not overbearing and extremely accommodating. The friend I was with has a number of food allergies and dishes were prepared to suit. We both had fish,... More

The food was very good and the staff were great. Almost fine dining but maybe more relaxed but this is not a bad thing. Food was served quickly (although we dined early at 19:00). Great place - highly recommend.

My boyfriend and I ate here a few weeks back on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, it wasn't very busy when we arrived, and after waiting to be served for more than 10 minutes I went inside to try and order a drink, I was advised then that someone would be over to take the order, another ten minute wait until... I had heard good reviews of this restaurant and things started well with attentive and friendly staff.I started with broccoli and stilton soup which required considerable salt and pepper to give it some flavour.I cannot believe how some chefs can send out a soup without checking it first. My main dish was duck confit with bean crock and baby carrots. The bean... Hi inclineski, Thank you very much for the great review. I'm absolutely thrilled to hear that you come back year after year. We're used to seeing familiar faces, but it's always especially nice to think that we've made such an impression on someone's holiday that we're on their 'to visit' list when they come back. I do agree, nobody wants to... More
