My partner & I eat here about once a month and have never been disappointed. The food is always great-well cooked and well presented-and the staff are superb. We are treated like one of the family now and they even know which wine to get out of the cooler when we arrive. Never any problems and definitely no complaints. We... More

Dear Fastcarfan, Thank you very much indeed for your great review. I'm very happy to see that you enjoy the food and the service. If you haven't already tried it we've just changed the Tennerfest menu which I'm sure that you'll love. I absolutely love it and my diet is suffering as a result but it's all in the name... More

Went in for lunch after visiting the museum, which it is next door to. The 'tennerfest' menu looked very tempting and attractive, (especially some of the puddings, which looked very unusual and interesting) but we both decided against it because neither of us could manage two courses at that particular time. We both wanted something lighter and both went for... More

Dear Trishmw, Thank you very much for taking the time to post your great review. I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed your meals with us. I too am a big fan of the mushroom rarebit and all of the sandwiches for that matter. If it interests you should definitely try our Slaney Farm Sirloin Ciabatta. It's divine! You... More

Having chosen the "Tennerfest" menu, we were expecting small portions etc. Not so, fantastic quality and quantity of food at £15-00 for a starter and Main, how can they produce such quality at the price. Incredible. Will be going back very soon.

Dear Richard I, Thank you very much indeed for such a great review. Usually Gavin replies to the Tripadvisor comments but on this occasion I asked if he would mind if I did. I can't tell you how happy I am that you enjoyed our Tennerfest menu. The secret to how we can produce such great food at such a... More

Sought out this restaurant from the good reviews. Everything lived up its previous recommendations. Great location, atmosphere and service. Decided to have the fish of the day on a bed of carrots and potatoes. All very tasty and all but not having starters the main meal was a bit scarce .Hardly any potatoes. So left feeling hungry as I don't... More

Dear Sir/madam (I didn't want to use the tripadvisor name :), Thank you very much for taking the time to post your review. I'm very sorry to hear that you didn't feel that your meal was large enough for you. I can honestly say that we usually have great comments regarding the portion sizes but as the 'catch of the... I went on day 1 of the 2014 Tennerfest. I have eaten at Merchant house before and always enjoyed good food. The Merchant House Tennerfest menu looked good in advance online and in the newspaper supplement. We enjoyed a warm greeting. The menu was indeed simple but interesting. The food when served exceeded expectation. The risotto starter was perfect, as was... More

Dear Ronaldo L, Thank you very much indeed for your fantastic review. I'm very happy that you enjoyed your Tennerfest meal with us yesterday. I can't help but agree that the menu is very nice indeed. I haven't tried the risotto yet (next on my list!) but I did have the pheasant forestier and as a man who is usually... More

We had been to take a look at the Jersey Hoard in the Museum and as we walked out through the Brasserie we thought what a nice setting and stopped for an impromptu lunch. What an excellent decision ! Great food and the service was friendly and impeccable

Dear NomadicWolves, (love the name!) Thank you very much for your great review. We are indeed perfectly located for a light snack or something more substantial before or after seeing the Coin Hoard (which I'm sure you'll agree really is well worth a visit) I'll be sure to pass your kind comments onto my colleagues in the kitchen and the... Came across Merchant House by strolling not by intent but what a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Sat outside on the terrace, good weather obviously helped, staff were very attentive and the food was excellent. Dear DaveOnHisHols, Wow, what a great review! I 'm thrilled to hear that both you and your wife enjoyed your meal with us. It is true that when the weather permits, dining out on the terrace adds a little 'je ne sais quoi' but the warm, cosy and relaxing atmosphere inside is also perfect for those not so warm nights.... We had lunch here before leaving for the airport. There was a hen party at another table, which was entertaining! The waiters were terrific and very attentive. The food was good too!

And given the number of good places to eat in St Helier, that's probably all you need to know. Great service, with staff happy to advise on what was suitable for a diabetic and to explain the local beers. The crab starter is ginormous, the pork belly possibly the best we've ever had, and the crumble wickedly tempting. (It's all... More

Went here for lunch with grand daughter and great grand daughter. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We both had salads which were excellent with some "different" ingredients. The little one was well catered for, although they do not have anything to amuse children. We sat outside as the weather was quite reasonable and eating outside makes it something special!... More

Dear JandT60, Thank you very much for your great review. I'm really happy to see that you enjoyed our salads with their little 'different' ingredients.
