Description: Steve Smith at Bohemia receives rave review from one of the world’s top food critics July 2013Steve Smith and his team at Bohemia are over the moon as the Michelin-starred restaurant has been scored 16/20 by food critic Andy Hayler on his acclaimed food review website andyhayler com Bohemia is one of only 20 restaurants in the UK in the last year to be awarded such a high score beating several 2 Michelin star restaurants like Joel Rubicon and Michael Wignall at the Latymer.Andy Hayler is one of the world’s most respected food critics and the only man to have eaten in all three Michelin star restaurants across the globe in just one year.Interestingly Hayler is also one of only a handful of critics who never accepts a free meal, always covering the cost of his meal, he ensures that his reports are fully subjective. When at Bohemia Andy Hayler opted for Steve Smith’s pescatarian tasting menu, though he swapped one course in order to try some meat as well. His review describes each dish in detail commenting, “Lobster with pea purée was served with pistachios and smoked butter foam. This was a very good dish, the local lobster tender and the pistachios adding a useful texture contrast.” And; “I had chicken with girolles, pea purée, sugar snap peas, mushroom purée and a Madeira sauce. The chicken, unlike so many served on restaurant tables in Britain, had good flavour, the sauce lifted the dish and the pea purée was also good; seasoning was very accurate, as it was throughout this meal.”He summarises the experience by saying, “This was an excellent meal.”Commenting on the review Bohemia Head Chef Steve Smith said, “I am absolutely thrilled that Bohemia has been rated so highly by such an acclaimed food critic as Andy Hayler. It is pleasing to know that our ethos of looking after our guests, offering quality and value for money; and on a technical level focusing on precision, balance and depth of flavour is recognized as the key to an outstanding dining experience.”In recent years Jersey has struggled to gain the attention and recognition afforded to other destinations by leading food critics. However it seems that the tide has now turned and not only are critics visiting the Island but its superior establishments are making an indelible mark as demonstrated by this latest achievement for Bohemia.Lawrence Huggler owner of Bohemia added, “To see the fantastic feedback Steve Smith and Bohemia has had from both locals and visitors to Jersey has been amazing and to then get a review from not just a world leading food critic but one whose reviews I personally respect so much is particularly special. Steve’s team in the kitchen and Dimitri’s front of house team have really raised the bar in Jersey and it is great to positive recognition of this.”

We knew what had to visit one of the michelin star restaurants on Jersey during our stay and Bohemia came most highly recommended to us. I can now see why....the food was superb, with great attention to detail and the service was first class. We opted for the six course surprise tasting menu which turned out to be great value... More

It's difficult to say anything positive about the Bohemia. I disagree with most reviews here. I thought the food was confused, the wine parings wrong and the staff untrained and unhelpful. The first glass of wine poured had 6 flies in it, the second paring was horrid cheap Bristol cream sherry!! We said we did not want foie gras -... More

Went this restaurant with my wife, brother and sister in law. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We all had the Classic Menu. It was very good value and each course was excellent. Sensational flavours. In addition to the amuse bouche we were given other delightful extras. Also the cheeses were excellent. The staff were informative and helped to make our... More

We had never eaten in a Michelin star restaurant before, we had the 11 course prestige tasting menu, it was excellent, couldn't fault it. The front of house staff were excellent and told us about each course when it was served. We asked for a suggestion of which wine to chose, and we were pleasantly surprised when the waiter suggested... More

Obviously when you loose your top man Mr Rankin you'd expect that it wouldn't be quite as good well the good news it is still very good.My only negative comment is it was very quiet on the Thursday night that we went although it did get busier. On the food side though it was creative and clever full of flavour and... We had the lunch time menu. This meal is not about being hungry and eating, it is about delighting your sense of taste with flavours that I will remember for a very long time. Despite this we certainly were very full at the end. Besides our three courses, little delights were constantly brought our way from the amuse bouche at the... More

This place has a great ambience. It's very nicely laid out and we were there for a friend's 50th birthday party. The dinner was excellent and memorable. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.

My husband and I were staying in Jersey to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary and decided to book into the restaurant as it was part of The Club Hotel where we were spending the first two nights... From the moment we walked in we were made to feel special.... We were served canapés at the bar while we had a... More

This was an amazing meal for a birthday celebration. True Michelin quality and service. Yes, the portions are very small but you do get a lot of courses. The chef coped admirably with a member of our party's many allergies and produced some incredible food. The amuse bouche were superb. We particularly liked the beetroot jelly with mackeral, The gluten... More
