Description: Steve Smith at Bohemia receives rave review from one of the world’s top...
Steve Smith at Bohemia receives rave review from one of the world’s top food critics July 2013Steve Smith and his team at Bohemia are over the moon as the Michelin-starred restaurant has been scored 16/20 by food critic Andy Hayler on his acclaimed food review website andyhayler com Bohemia is one of only 20 restaurants in the UK in the last year to be awarded such a high score beating several 2 Michelin star restaurants like Joel Rubicon and Michael Wignall at the Latymer.Andy Hayler is one of the world’s most respected food critics and the only man to have eaten in all three Michelin star restaurants across the globe in just one year.Interestingly Hayler is also one of only a handful of critics who never accepts a free meal, always covering the cost of his meal, he ensures that his reports are fully subjective. When at Bohemia Andy Hayler opted for Steve Smith’s pescatarian tasting menu, though he swapped one course in order to try some meat as well. His review describes each dish in detail commenting, “Lobster with pea purée was served with pistachios and smoked butter foam. This was a very good dish, the local lobster tender and the pistachios adding a useful texture contrast.” And; “I had chicken with girolles, pea purée, sugar snap peas, mushroom purée and a Madeira sauce. The chicken, unlike so many served on restaurant tables in Britain, had good flavour, the sauce lifted the dish and the pea purée was also good; seasoning was very accurate, as it was throughout this meal.”He summarises the experience by saying, “This was an excellent meal.”Commenting on the review Bohemia Head Chef Steve Smith said, “I am absolutely thrilled that Bohemia has been rated so highly by such an acclaimed food critic as Andy Hayler. It is pleasing to know that our ethos of looking after our guests, offering quality and value for money; and on a technical level focusing on precision, balance and depth of flavour is recognized as the key to an outstanding dining experience.”In recent years Jersey has struggled to gain the attention and recognition afforded to other destinations by leading food critics. However it seems that the tide has now turned and not only are critics visiting the Island but its superior establishments are making an indelible mark as demonstrated by this latest achievement for Bohemia.Lawrence Huggler owner of Bohemia added, “To see the fantastic feedback Steve Smith and Bohemia has had from both locals and visitors to Jersey has been amazing and to then get a review from not just a world leading food critic but one whose reviews I personally respect so much is particularly special. Steve’s team in the kitchen and Dimitri’s front of house team have really raised the bar in Jersey and it is great to positive recognition of this.”

Visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening with my wife. Not only was it the best food we have ever had it was also some of the best service I have ever experienced from any restaurant ive visited around the world! The tasting menu is fantastic, and when you consider the quality of ingredients you are getting I think its... More

We went to Bohemia and chose to have lunch at the bar instead of in the restaurant. The food was lovely and came at a fraction of the restaurant prices with great service... The only negative being that Corona should be served in its bottle and not in a glass. :/

Steve Smith and his colleagues don't fail to impress! This is my second visit yet again I left with a smile on my face! Our table had the 6 Course Surprise Tasting Menu - Each course complemented the other, every mouthful was so delicious. Each course was explained in detail by one of the knowledgeable waiters, this made the experience... More

Fine dining at its best. I have been here on many occasions and cannot fault the quality presentation and exciting flavours. The menus are always well thought out with very good variety of dishes always fresh and attractive. A must try for the gourmand diners. The French restaurant manager is calm and unhurried with an excellent manner. The restaurant if... More

This restaurant's speciality is the Taster Menus, of which there are several to choose from,ie: fish and seafood,or meat, or a mix of both, and I think there is a vegetarian one too. There is also an à la carte menu, so there is something for everyone. The service is as outstanding as the food, which is exquisitely presented and... More

Unsurpassable fabulous food. We visited as part of the Jersey food festival and had the most amazing taster menu prepared by the chef Michelin rated Steve Smith. Can't even describe the flavours and presentation. The service was first class to complement the food. Just go and taste for youself.

We were staying at the Club Spa hotel for a week, one of the reasons being it had a Michelin star restaurant. The location was rather disappointing, opening on to a bar area as it did. At dinner we opted for the Prestige Menu, including wines. The service was excellent and staff talked us through each wine and every course. The... More

If you are in Jersey you must eat here! The service is top notch - friendly, efficient and considerate. The food is amazing. I chose the six-course surprise tasting lunch menu and each course was a joy to behold and a riot of taste. The waiting staff were very helpful in suggesting wines to go with the courses. All in...
