Description: Steve Smith at Bohemia receives rave review from one of the world’s top food critics July 2013Steve Smith and his team at Bohemia are over the moon as the Michelin-starred restaurant has been scored 16/20 by food critic Andy Hayler on his acclaimed food review website andyhayler com Bohemia is one of only 20 restaurants in the UK in the last year to be awarded such a high score beating several 2 Michelin star restaurants like Joel Rubicon and Michael Wignall at the Latymer.Andy Hayler is one of the world’s most respected food critics and the only man to have eaten in all three Michelin star restaurants across the globe in just one year.Interestingly Hayler is also one of only a handful of critics who never accepts a free meal, always covering the cost of his meal, he ensures that his reports are fully subjective. When at Bohemia Andy Hayler opted for Steve Smith’s pescatarian tasting menu, though he swapped one course in order to try some meat as well. His review describes each dish in detail commenting, “Lobster with pea purée was served with pistachios and smoked butter foam. This was a very good dish, the local lobster tender and the pistachios adding a useful texture contrast.” And; “I had chicken with girolles, pea purée, sugar snap peas, mushroom purée and a Madeira sauce. The chicken, unlike so many served on restaurant tables in Britain, had good flavour, the sauce lifted the dish and the pea purée was also good; seasoning was very accurate, as it was throughout this meal.”He summarises the experience by saying, “This was an excellent meal.”Commenting on the review Bohemia Head Chef Steve Smith said, “I am absolutely thrilled that Bohemia has been rated so highly by such an acclaimed food critic as Andy Hayler. It is pleasing to know that our ethos of looking after our guests, offering quality and value for money; and on a technical level focusing on precision, balance and depth of flavour is recognized as the key to an outstanding dining experience.”In recent years Jersey has struggled to gain the attention and recognition afforded to other destinations by leading food critics. However it seems that the tide has now turned and not only are critics visiting the Island but its superior establishments are making an indelible mark as demonstrated by this latest achievement for Bohemia.Lawrence Huggler owner of Bohemia added, “To see the fantastic feedback Steve Smith and Bohemia has had from both locals and visitors to Jersey has been amazing and to then get a review from not just a world leading food critic but one whose reviews I personally respect so much is particularly special. Steve’s team in the kitchen and Dimitri’s front of house team have really raised the bar in Jersey and it is great to positive recognition of this.”

This restaurant has really gone downhill in my opinion - the food was cold and the service was dreadful - when I mentioned it to the waitress - she totally ignored me - it is very expensive to eat here - so certainly not the service and quality you expect

We were staying at The Club hotel and Spa and decided to check out their michellin starred resturant. Apparently the new chef, Steve Smith, was said to not have been as good as the previous chef...i am not sure how this is possible. The food was amazing, if a little rich, and the staff were very attentive. My only complaint... More

We dined at the Bohemia Restaurant as part of a day spa visit and had a wonderful dining experience. Three courses of beautifully tasting and looking food, complete with a complimentary glass of champagne, bag of bread, canapés and a pre-dessert course. We had a fantastic time and loved every minute of our dining experience.

I wouldn't chose a Michelin star restaurant routinely and went with a reserved attitude. I was proven wrong!! You can dine A la Carte but suspect most opt for one of four menus consisting of multiple courses. The Maître de explained how these worked to us.Each comes with optional accompanying wines for each course which as an option I would... More

The food was delicious, the service excellent. We had the Saturday lunch for £20 and it is an excellent deal. The duck egg was superb and the pork belly amazing. The desert to die for. They also gave us some canapés and we had treats and coffee at the end. We came out so full and satisfied. Was one of... More

I had lunch with some friends and from start to finish we were extremely well looked after. The beef tartar was an excellent starter and I had the cod for main and the skin was crisped to perfection. I understand that it is under new management/chef and I can assure all former visitors that the standard is just as good.... More

I recently visited Bohemia to have the smoked salmon and crab salad which they describe on the hotel website as the recipe of the week and state how popular this salad is. I have eaten here before and I decided to try out this salad again after I recommending it to friends. I have a copy of the recipe from... More

The second of our three Michelin restaurants in Jersey. We had the tasting menu, which couldn't be faulted in anyway, and the wine matchings were perfect (including Harvey's Bristol Cream!). Service was excellent, but there were about 3 staff covering only 3 tables. The issue was the atmosphere - this is an area tacked on the side of the bar,... More

We were on the Jersey Michelin experience dining in the three Michelin star restaurants and we dined at Bohemia on the final night. It was very close between teh Ocean restaurant and Bohemia for the best of the three but I think Bohemia sneaked it! We were surprised that the restaurant was very quiet but it really didn't take anything... More
