Unexpected gem

In a touristy area it can always be a bit hit or miss. Happy to report this restaurant is definitely a hit. Delicious bistro style food (we all has variations on the fish) with good, attentive service. Thanks for a unexpectedly lovely evening.

We had a wonderful family event at the Wicklow Heather. Catering for a group of almost 40 people the food was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Everyone was delighted with the choice of venue and there is no doubt we will all be back to visit again. Breakfast the next morning was equally good. I... More

Get a full Irish breakfast. Toast was surprisingly good and they even provided us Americans with a pitcher of tap water with lemon and wine glasses

We suspected that this would be a fairly touristy restaurant with indifferent fare, but the food turned out to be wholesome and delicious, and the decor was also more interesting than it might have been. There would be no reason to make a special trip here, but if you are visiting Glendalough during the day or overnight, it would be... More

We had a day out in Co. Wicklow today and were recommended to have lunch in the Wicklow Heather by a lady in the nearby Woollen Mills (also worth a visit). Our meal was really excellent and the staff were very friendly and efficient. We will be dining there when we next are in the area. Very good value.

We're staying in Laragh at nearby Lynham's (will be reviewing shortly). Having dined at Lynham's last night we decided to go elsewhere this evening & Wicklow Heather really appealed to both of us. We rang mid-afternoon to book a table. We were warmly welcomed on arrival. My husband had the french onion soup to start followedby the roast lamb. I... More

This has to be one of the best restaurants we have ever visited. .when I rang to book our table the girl that took the call was so nice and helpful. ..when she discovered how far we were travelling to dine there so offered to reserve a nice table with a view. ..We arrived an hour early and that was... Came here for a meal on the recommendation of the b&b we were staying at. From the welcome to the bill and the goodbye the service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive without being intrusive and had a genuine and warm approach. The food was excellent and full of flavour and everything was cooked perfectly. A good selection on the... We had a meal on a quiet Wednesday just before the easter holidays. Service was pleasant and efficient. I had chowder for starters and my friend had french onion soup. Both very nice. We both had roast rump of lamb for mains and it was absolutely delicious. Cooked just right with a pinkness to the meat and served with turnip... More
