Terrific value in the Wicklow hills

We were a large group celebrating the birthday of one of our number. After walking substantial distance that day, we were ravenous. Luckily, the Wicklow Heather did not disappoint. We were a large group celebrating the birthday of one of our number. After walking substantial distance that day, we were ravenous. Luckily, the Wicklow Heather did not disappoint. If anything, the portions defeated me. Generally, I can clear my plate but after a starter of delicious pate and a main course of hake, I could barely touch my dessert.... More

Nicely decorated and relaxed restaurant close to the Wicklow national park trail area. Service and food were very good.

Quality food served with a smile. Huge choice on the menu. Had the fish one day and the Shepards pie the next. Both were top class. Kids menu very extensive. Desert is a must. Apple pie was amazing. My kids loved the chocolate cake and ice cream. You won't be disappointed.

The building is lovely and has a nice beer garden area where you can enjoy the sun. The inside is charming and feels cozy without being small. The food is lovely and I would happily have another meal there, with different wait staff. We arrived at the restaurant and were shown to a table and then ignored for so long... More

We visited here on a nice sunny day were we could eat outside and just relax. We had driven around glendalough and this was a great find of a place. Food was good, staff friendly and educated on gluten free options, which was great as I'm a coeliac, so had choices. Would recommend.

Had an absolutely delicious meal here on Sunday evening. It’s a must to book a table at this restaurant as it is always extremely busy, which is not surprising, given the quality of the food served. The place was absolutely buzzing and we were directed to a table in the Writers Room. The menu is excellent and uses fresh local... More

A unique restuarant steeped in Irish Liturature and history. Definately worth a visit. I will warn that the delicious portions of the food are gigantic, so make sure you are hungry! I ordered the fish and chips and got TWO pieces! Great staff, a genuinely warm and welcoming vibe.

Great place for a holiday. Stay in Laragh and get up at 5 am, and go to the walk way to Glendalough. You will see hundreds of wild deer . Then go back to your b&b and have a good Irish Breakfast .
