Usually have the early bird in the main restaurant but as we were a little late we ate in the bar. Slightly smaller menu but the same wonderful food and great service. This place is consistently good and the only problem with the menu is that the choices are all so good it is hard to know what to choose.

The Hungry Monk looks like a small restaurant from the outside - but has a tardis like effect! The decor is lovely with plush red seating and chunky wooden tables. Six of us visited last Sunday and had a wonderful time. With an age range between 20 and 80 it could have been difficult to satisfy all. The menu was... More

Dined in the restaurant and would like to pass on my thanks to the staff who could only have been more pleasant and courteous to us all. They were very good in recommending specials and all the best of the menu. If this is number three dining I think the other restaurants must be heaven sent. But this was superb.

Good food without any pretension in this well known local restaurant. Service is friendly and you certainly feel at home. Go with the specials, the black pudding is excellent. Plenty of choices for both fish (try the scampi) and meat lovers (lots of steak). Servings are also generous. I liked the decor and they certainly seem to keep in tune... More

Great service very entertaining staff, very friendly. Food was very good. Had the asparagus and pine nut risotto, excellent nice and creamy. For the main I had the salmon and for dessert the mango sorbet all dishes were excellent. The wine list is nice because you have an option of glass, half bottle or full bottle. Would take the Dart... We ate here last week and it was absolutely top class. The liver pate was delicious as a starter don't overlook it! The service was excellent and the relaxed atmosphere was most enjoyable. Definitely one of the best restaurants I've eaten in.

Visited this restaurant as we were staying in the area and had heard from friends how good it was and it didn't disappoint! The food was excellent! Both the steak and the scampi were a big hit! The service was first class, nothing too much bother and such a welcome and we couldn't fault it at all! Just wish we... More

I live nearby so eat here in the wine bar regularly. It's always consistently excellent in every way. Great service, value and amazing food with an extensive wine and beer menu. The lambs kidneys starter is to die for !! Like any great restaurant, it's always busy so be sure to book ahead or risk disappoinment. Love this place !!!
