My husband and I were headed to Dublin when we decided to stop here. We had no expectation whatsoever and stopped in Portlaoise to grab a quick lunch. To our surprise we found The Pantry and it was delicious! My husband had the turkey panini and I had butternut squash soup both of which were excellent. We also had an... More

Great coffee, delicious home made seeded brown bread and scones, fabulous banoffie pie, friendly staff - I haven't found anywhere in town to beat it. Love the new renovations, more room and nice and bright.

Originally from Portlaoise , going home for a visit has to include a trip to the Pantry. Great atmosphere , delightful decor, and excellent food . They even make a top class chai latte which I always struggle to find in other cafés . I highly recommend this place .

As I'm reasonably local and in Portlaoise this has become one of our regular haunts . It's got that bright , warm airy feeling with fabulous displays of home cooked goodies and tasty eats that lift the heart on any day . The owners are on the job and staff are quick with a welcome and to enquire as your... More

The only real problem was that it was noisy so that made it difficult to have conversation. The Pantry however is in good location - there are few enough nice places for coffee of light meals in the town. The staff were helpful and the service was great - the food was obviously home cooked and well presented

We stopped off here on a trip up the country. We should have walked on as the town has a lot more interesting places to eat. Gown ups had lasagna which was okay and maybe had just been sitting round too long. The accompanying salad was very good. The vegetable soup my daughter had was dreadful. It was like baby... More

Dear Darren P Your review has provided us with very insightful and useful feedback. Thank you. I recall clearly the day you visited as it was I who spoke with you from the counter area. It was a very busy afternoon and there was a large queue also waiting for service when you came to settle your bill. This meant... More

Got a take away from here, the ciabatta was nice. Picked up a couple of deserts and didn't find them that much to write home about... The coffee wasn't spectacular either.... Nice would be the best word for it, don't know if I would bother going again

Dear Rumbledoll891 Thanks for dropping in to The Pantry and I'm glad you enjoyed your ciabatta. With a hard earned reputation for delicious home baking and a selection of over a dozen gateaux, pastries, cookies and tartlets baked fresh in our kitchen daily, I'm keen to know more about how we might specifically earn a repeat visit? Be sure to... More

I have had lunch here on numerous occasions and while I find that the service and atmosphere is always top class, the quality of the food can vary. The last day I was here I had the goats cheese tartlet with salad, as I have had a few times before, and it was nowhere near as good as usual. The... More
