Surprisingly Good Food

Attached to the Heritage Hotel Portlaoise and part of our Hotel DB&B package we had modest expectations from this restaurant. What a pleasant surprise. The Bruschetta was excellent with lovely garlic notes and fresh flavoursome tomatoes and it was a generous portion. The Confit of Duck was cooked... read more

It's been many years since I was here last & I swore the last time I wouldn't go back as it was so bad,but due to circumstances I had to return.food was obviously reheated...had mussels for starters-poor choice on my part.mostly lukewarm & had been round the block before!had to ask for an empty bowl for the shells & water... Restaurant was half empty, despite it being new years eve which should have aroused suspicion. Waited about 20 mins for drinks to arrive, and didn't receive any water for the table until we were just finished our mains. I had the spinach and ricotta pasta dish and was very disappointed. The pasta was obviously not fresh as it was cold... More

I've eaten here several times while in Portlaoise on business. To be fair I went on a Sunday night this time, so it was quite quiet and lacking in atmosphere compared to other times. They used to give delicious breads with olive oil with your drinks, but no longer it seems. I ordered a glass of wine and pizza while... More

We ate here with our hotel package while staying in the Heritage next door. The restaurant is adjoining the hotel via stairs but is only a minute walk for anyone in a wheelchair or those who are unable to manage the stairs. We both had bruschetta for starters and it was lovely, followed by Confit duck leg with mash and... More

We stayed in the heritage hotel attached to this restaurant and as their other restaurant was closed we had to eat here on our package. The staff are lovely but like roadrunners going round was all very rushed. Set menu was OK nothing stand out really. No veg of any sort came with the mains and the tirimisu wasn't the... More

Food here is delicious. Penne pasta di pollo is my usual dish. Food is served at a very high temperature and all pastas come with a large bowl of grated cheese. The staff here are extremely friendly, very welcoming and anything you ask them to explain is explained very well. All in all a fantastic place to eat in the... More
