This place is dreadful. They can't even make a decent cup of coffee. My view is always if they can't get coffee right what hope is there of getting food right.

Daniel I remember your visit to our café last October well. Allow me to remind you and to inform the readers of your review. On the day that you visited you appeared to be intoxicated. You approached the beverage counter and ordered a coffee. When you were served, and before you even tasted the coffee, you became verbally abusive to... More

Love rafters for the great selection, variety, cleanliness & friendliness. Both my kids are very fussy eaters, I myself am a coeliac & my Husband... well he has a hearty appetite :) Rafters is one of the few places we can visit as a family that guarantees we are all looked after. There is something on the menu to please... More

everytime I visit Laois Shopping centre, I pop into Rafters cafe and it has never disappointed, great speedy friendly service, many coffee options and great choice of food, and they always seem to have something new to try on the menu so I never get bored. Always busy, which is a good sign. 5 stars!

The big things that you don't like to see in a cafe/restaurant stand out here. Service is poor, tables are always dirty, the cafe has a general messy feeling and staff uniforms seem to always be unclean. The food selection doesn't seem to look fresh either. The positive of this eatery is the convenience and location, handy to pop in... More

I've been here a good few times. The food is nice especially the deserts, it's good value for money too. Everytime Ive been though I've had to wait for something, the desert counter has never been attended and I always have to wait for someone to come or a few times I've had to call someone myself. I think it... More

Hi Sarah, thanks for you review and my apologies for not responding sooner. your comments about the confectionary counter are well founded. The counter is enclosed so that customers may not handle or worse still, sneeze on the confectionary. As I am sure you are aware, confectionary especially with cream is an food item that can be very dangerous if... More

Living in Portlaoise, I have often popped into this café whilst out shopping. The last couple of times I have noticed the cleanliness of the establishment has been steadily declining. From streaky glass counters, dirty cups, sticky tables and cutlery to filthy floors. Seriously, its pretty bad. At first I gave it the benefit of the doubt and thought I... More

We have often popped into rafters for a cake and coffee or a scone. We haven't tried the meals ourselves but they look nice and people seem to enjoy them. Our grievance is that we never seem to get the same standard twice in a row. We went in one day and had a scone and coffee. It was lovely... More

Dear reviewer, (I am sorry, I do not know your name) Thank you for taking the time to write a review, We did change the recipe for our scones for one day and like you we found them to be doughy. Unfortunately, some were sold before we realised and withdrew them.Had you have brought it to the attention of one... More

Home for a couple of days in August and we had a family get together in Rafters. The place was packed but, a girl who must have been a supervisor told us she would ensure we all got a table together. There were 10 in our party, 5 adults and 5 children. The food as usual was excellent and the... More
