Lovely food but fading elegance

It's the food that matters, of course, and I've always looked forward to my annual visit with friends and their families, because the Red Bank probably serves the best lobster in Ireland, or anywhere else for that matter. It used to have a great atmosphere, too, but as other reviewers have noted... read more

Whilst staying at the hotel/restaurant we booked in for dinner on the Monday night, a quiet night with only a couple of other diners. The Hotel owner and Chef looked after us all the way through. We went to the bar area with a fire burning for drinks and some complimentary beautifully cooked potato skins. Our order was taken by... More

The Redbank has always been the jewel of Skerries restaurants and it really did live up to our expectations last night. The evening started with a very warm welcome from Terry and a seat by the warm fire. We ate from the early bird menu which is fantastic value considering the choices and quality. As there were 7 of us... More

My husband and I went for dinner at the weekend. It would be hard to find fault with the staff or food, but the room is so dated it is now unwelcoming and ugly. The lighting is too stark for the custard-yellow walls. There is nothing intimate or cosy at all. There is a door at the back of the... More

I visited the Redbank for the first time recently as one in a party of 15 people. We were all treated excellently and the choice on the menu was fantastic. I had the mussels to start and a main of pork fillet. The food was exquisite. What's more the dessert trolley was a unique and impressive addition to the evening... More

I have eaten here several times. The food was initially acceptable. Today, sadly the quality has diminished. Avoid fish chowder, On my visit it consisted of a few lovely prawns, totally in-edible squid which could not be cut, let alone eaten. The chowder also contained a few very small mussels from which the centres could not be removed because they... More

Everything is wonderful here: the service, the food, and relaxed ambience. Very well prepared Lobster is on the menu, as well as an excellent thick Ribeye steak done just right. If you want to be pampered and eat delicious food, eat here. Do be prepared to view the dessert cart.
