Unfortunately, I had booked a table here last minute and invited my American guest along. The food was so disappointing, beef and pork were dry and so tough, desserts were shocking also ! Waiting staff may have been tired after a long day, but remember a smile goes a long way :) Only because I had a special guest and... More

It has been ten years since we have been to Ballymaloe and were really looking forward to it. What a disappointment! They used the best of ingredients and everything was cooked fine but there was no magic. It was like a dinner served at a wedding reception ten years ago. It was very poor value for money.

We had a family lunch and nothing was a bother in coping with a precocious young princess. The staff succeeded effortlessly. The venue is second to none and on a glorious sunny day we envied the guests checking in not least because the outdoor pool looked heavenly. The lunch was quite simply superb. Wonderful fish presented simply and elegantly will... More

Went here on business with the company I work for. A large group was present. We had lunch, simple lamb/chicken/beef on brown bread, and dinner, a BBQ. Both meals were fantastic. The meats were so delicious and cooked perfectly. All the salads were also very tasty and there was more than enough food. The staff also were very helpful. I... More

I went here last week for a family meal with my parents and sister. When we arrived I didn't know what to expect but I was very sceptical knowing it was costing €70 per person. Anyway when we arrived we were taken to a kind of waiting area where we were given a table, menus and were able to order... More

For years I have wanted to go to Ballymaloe and we travelled to Co. Cork specially for Sunday lunch. Having bought the cookery books of three generations of the Allen women, expectations were perhaps too high. The house itself, in a marvellous situation, looks in need of some TLC, a little more worn than I would have expected. However, it... More

My wife and I had the €70 dinner here last weekend. Alas, we left a bit underwhelmed. We both felt that the standard in Ballymaloe has not kept up with the times. The days having your unique selling point being that you are all locally sourced seasonal produce doesn't cut it any more. Every good restaurant does that, except they... More

We were at the recent food fair in Ballymaloe and had a super time but were let down by the Ottolenghi dinner. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious, but some of the other elements left a lot to be desired. We were waited upon by "volunteers". Clearly nobody had thought it was a good idea to educate these... More
