House and Garden, Cooking School - all tied into one place!

This place was over the top. It was too many things all at one time. The gardens were beautiful, and free if you stay at the home. I liked it, but it was not my favorite. It seem a little old fashioned.

We had heard that Ballymaloe was famous in Ireland, but did not realise that the food would be so simple. I guess it was closest in style to UK's River Cottage and offered good farmhouse food, very simply prepared. The carrots served with the main course seemed almost willfully rejecting of any fine dining ideas as they were chopped into... More

I live locally and have always wanted to dine at Ballymaloe but found the prices were out of my budget. I was delighted to win lunch for 2 and invited my mother along. I was really excited with this wonderful opertunity. I telephoned in advance to book lunch and to inform them of my voucher, I was told as that... More

We travelled to Ballymaloe whilst on holidays last week in Cork and arrived just past lunchtime and the lady who tells us has worked in Ballymaloe over 46 years was kind enough not to turn us away but gave us a table in the diningroom. We are a family of 4 with 2 young boys and were so pleased that... More

Had dinner here in early February, beautiful old country house with a lovely lane way entrance. Unfortunately we were expecting a lot from the food and left a bit disappointed . Prices are On the high end for the type of food that is served , it's more plain simple food than melt in your mouth explosion of flavour or... More

A piece of heaven - never wanted to leave! Room was so beautiful - wanted to stay in it all the time, but surroundings were also so beautiful - so was torn. We also had our dinner that evening and it was delicious. We would highly recommend it to all ages and types. We cycled to the cookery school which... More

We try to visit 2 or 3 times a year, always for lunch. Food is peerless; fresh, flavoursome and appetisingly presented. Superficially it may appear expensive, but the use of quality produce of known provenance which is skilfully prepared, cooked and served cannot be cheap. For us this is a treat, worth every penny. And the icing on the cake... More

Beautiful place without a doubt, but very overpriced. I understand the philosophy of simple food done well, but why so expensive? And a little care in the presentation wouldn't hurt. Service was OK, but for example our group was only told a certain main course was finished (at 8.30pm), after we'd all spent 20 minutes choosing from the menu. All... More

Thank you - unfortunately dishes on our menu do run out - we do our best to keep menu updated but sometimes we have to disappoint our guests if a particular dish sells better than we have predicted. People understand that it can be a guessing game for our chefs trying to predict which dishes will sell . We are... More

Went here recently with my wife and some of her close family. We sat down in a conservatory type part of the place and where offered drinks there as we studied the menu. After a while we sat down at our table and orders were placed. Staff came across very friendly and professional. We had a mixture of lamb, fish,... More

We had dinner here, 2 young girls and husband. They were very accommodating with the kids (under 7 not allowed after 7) and the food and service were excellent! I would go again and again and would love to stay there if possible.
