My wife and I stayed here for one night and had Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. The whole experience was wonderful from start to finish. From checking in at reception everyone was so relaxed and unfussy and that atmosphere was there for the whole stay. The room we had was old fashioned but warm and cosy and led out on to... More

We enjoyed the Lazy Sunday evening buffet. This started with soup which we declined and moved onto locally caught/produced selection of fish ( smoked salmon, periwinkles, oysters, smoked hake, shrimps to name but a few), homemade pates, bread, chutneys and sauces. Utterly impressive. This was followed by a choice of roast meats along with vegetables and salads and finished with the dessert trolley. The ambience,service... More

I dined here whilst a short break student at the nearby Ballymaloe Cookery School in Shanagarry. The weather was with us, so the estate looked very beautiful. The house itself reflects a bygone elegance, and the menu presents with local fish, shellfish, meat and vegetables. I was dining alone, something I am not used to, but the staff were very... More

Mrs Allen was sitting outside in a chair in the sunshine - reminded me of my mother. The grounds are beautifully kept - lovely shrubs and flowers. Shop is quite expensive. We went to cookery school and I walked the gardens - flower and veg. lovely-must cost a fortune to keep so well. I was very impressed. Bought some sauces and... More

My family and I had lunch in the Ballymaloe House in July 2014. It was a truly wonderful experience from beginning to end. The food was beautiful and service was excellent. It was a real treat for all of us, and I will make sure to pop in again if we're holidaying in the area.

Had a wonderful lunch here. Food so tasty- fresh organic ingredients, beautifully cooked and presented - a treat for the eye and taste buds. Delicious creamy pate and mussels steamed with chilli for starters, roast monkfish, slow roast shoulder of lamb for main, and a selection of luscious deserts from the 'sweet' trolley. Staff were wonderful, the service great, surroundings... More

Visited the house and gardens. The staff were most unfriendly. Try as I might, I could not get any of them to smile. At the shop I was told most curtly there were 'no free sample of cheese.'e - but at their prices I thought maybe.... At the modern cookery school I was told by a glaring chef, that they... More

We went out of our way to make this stop to eat at this restaurant. I was disappointed. It was just an average meal and the service was just average as well. Not worth the stop.
