My wife introduced me to Gus's Reuben sandwich when we were dating. We've been all over the country and haven't found one with a comparable flavor anywhere. We no longer live in Knoxville but when we get back, we always carve out enough time to visit Gus's. Yum!

I understand this place is a University of Tennessee legend. And rightfully so. It is getting harder and harder to find places that "steam" their deli sandwiches - but Gus's does!!! Roast beef with smoked cheddar on dark and steamed is a little bite of heaven. I also had the Gyro - unique in that I am pretty sure it... More

Hungry for a hamburguer? Stop in Gus's, they are really good and it's kinda different than the others you are used to.

I've had to stop by every time I'm in Knoxville. The steamed ham with smoked cheddar is crazy good. Lots of other choices as well. Burgers look phenomenal. Decent combo prices, most employees are very sociable and friendly. I've only run into Mr. grumpy once. The sandwiches are so good, that I just close my eyes as they handle the... More

My husband introduced me to Gus's just after we married. The steak in a sak is delicious! This is the place to go after every game or just passing through. Yum!

Walked in, manager on duty rudely told me to "get out" , even with the exception of it being Halloween because I had no shirt on. Missing teeth and bad health himaelf picking his nose. I do not advise this place unless your a broke student. Please check the health score.

This place has not changed measurably since I was here in college. The sandwiches are out of this world and unique to this area. I have never found another like it - they steam the sandwich making it an incredible taste experience. Must try.

Steamed Hogie on dark bread......... yum...... This was a favorite of mine years ago during my on campus days, and we still drop in when in town.

I love this place and I've eaten here hundreds of times over the years. This is the best place in knoxville to get a real steamed deli sandwhich. Thier burgers and fries area great too. They deliver until really late at night and are open early in the morning. The inside is decorated with years and years worth of UT... More

My boyfriend was a UT student and loved this place while he was in Knoxville. We stopped at Gus's while traveling through. For my first Knoxville food experience, I was pretty pleased. We ordered hogie sandwiches and they were melty goodness. Considering this place is sorta rundown looking (but in a charming way; it wasn't dirty) the meat was all... More
