I won't take the time to tell you about the great pizza here, everyone else does that. Just don't be shocked by your first impression of the place. The place is way beyond eclectic. The old house was once a pottery studio and part of the secret to really good pizza is having a really hot oven. They converted the... More

Found listing on TA. Gave it a shot. Very unique. Handmade pies from a very original selection. Staff gladly explains the process. Takes a while for the pie to arrive if really busy. Steady stream of customers and changing crowd makes it an interesting place. Good music which you can select. Ate a whole lot more pizza than we had... More

This place was awesome. If you love Asheville, you will enjoy this place. If you don't know what that means, check it out. It's quirky, fun, and delicious. The staff all seem to enjoy their jobs. I love the eclectic, mismatched, retro decor. It's a help-yourself and make-yourself-at-home type of joint. The most unique feature I've ever seen in a... More

This is a quirky little pizza joint but we love it. It has a fun artsy vibe. This trip we tried the gluten free crust due to diet restrictions and it was great. The numerous topping made it and at $10 and all the topping I wanted sign me up.

Had some apprehension at first but man is the pizza great! These guys aren't on the ritzy side of town and they're not trying to impress you with some trendy building. They have a genuine wood fired oven and their focus is on the FOOD!! If you like pizza, don't pass them up looking for something better.

This is not the first time I have eaten at the restaurant and not much has changed. It still offers a really awesome atmosphere with free records to play. We were greeted quickly by the employees, which was great since we were the only ones there at noon. All members of my party got the gluten-free pizza option because it... More

Loved the brick oven concept and the off-beat decor. The owner was entertaining and he explained how to order. Three of the four of us really liked the pizza. I thought it was ok, but I will admit I am picky. First time I ever went to a restaurant that was BYOB. My so and his girl friend picked out... More

A real 60's joint! Paint peeling on an older home. Challenging parking, Funky little benches and tables outside,. Mismatched furnishing on the inside. Self seating. No table service, you place your order on a scratch pad. BYOB or grab a soft drink from their cooler, Select a record from the impressive collection of vinyl. Locate paper plates and plastic forks. I searched for the top-rated restaurant in Johnson City and found Scratch Brick Oven. We went and were not disppointed! At first we weren't sure how to order or what to order! It took a few minutes of reading the signs and scratch pads (where you order) to figure out what to do! The atmosphere was pretty cool inside the... More

I have been to Scratch dozens of times and I am continually impressed with the pizza. The brick oven that they use really adds a nice texture to all the homemade and great quality ingredients that they use. The place is a little rough around the edges, so don't take relatives who have problems with hippie children making their food.... More
