I was there on Thursday afternoon, nice atmoshpere, the chicken liver were great, we enjoyed the home made sides as well, the corn bread was very dry and over cooked, the pork chop dinner, the chop its self was tender but the breading was very salty.

ONION RINGS: ($5.99 for about 9 or so) Excellent, pipin' hot (I thought it would be like the Bloomin' Onion for the price and business). GRITS: Did not meet expectations (Included with the Fish & Grits) slightly lower than room temp and too buttery. A step below the Waffle/Huddle House quality). Cole Slaw: Did not meet expectations; room temp. My... More

I love salt so when I say it's too much it is way too much. The batter for fried chicken and livers was so so salty. Real mashed potatoes were good. Collard greens and sweet cornbread tasted burnt (use lard next time and not oil). The cabbage was awesome!!! Sweet tea not too sweet. Mac and cheese pretty good. The... More

Neat throw-back atmosphere with great service and friendly people. Went there for lunch and had shrimp and grits. Also had fried pickles...so good! Wanted caramel cake for dessert but they didn't have it that day. Very laid-back attitude and the food is homecooked and delicious. I will definitely return!

I love the vegetables and not many places have chicken livers. They are a little slow serving you but it's worth the wait. My grand kids love the chicken and waffles! And I think the wait staff is wonderful.

I loved the home made vegetables. Great selection, seasoned well. The corn bread in a pone was very good. MY friend had the chicken livers and enjoyed them too. The fried green tomato's were some of the best I have had. We will go back.

We had a friend recommend Salt & Pepper Restaurant so we decided to give it a try. They advertise Soul Food. The staff were very friendly and the waitress was great at keeping our drinks filled. My husband ordered the fried chicken and I had the Dirty South Hamburger which humongous and included a fried green tomato and jalapeno pimento... More

My wife went here for a couples night out. It turned out to be a disaster. 1) It took over an hour to be seated. 2) the hostess was rude 3) the waitress forgot about us. It took half an hour before she took our order. 4) It took another half an hour to get our food. 5) We ordered... More

I am not the best person to review this eatery in all ways, as I always eat their pan fried chicken livers, which are to die for! You can tell they are fresh, hand breaded (with flour, just like Grandma did it)....and they have never been over cooked......just cooked to perfection. They are lightly seasoned and ready to eat when... More

The food and decor are really great but the service can be lacking at certain times. The busiest times seem to be the times when they don't have enough people waiting tables. Also getting food to go can be a long wait too. Overall I would eat there again but not sure if I'd go there with a large group.... More
