Best BBQ in Memphis!

This is a tiny restaurant but we got right in and were seated immediately. The restaurant is clean and the staff very friendly. All I can say is this was absolutely the best ribs and pulled pork we have ever eaten....and we know ribs and pulled pork BBQ! Now the sides...the best baked beans I... read more

This place is fantastic. It's tiny, but the service is great, the food is amazing, and they give you a ton. I recommend the combo plate with pork shoulder and ribs, the shoulder is very tender and the ribs are so very smoky. Don't miss the sauce either, it's unusual, tangy, and very good.

This business trip I decided to conduct a BBQ throw-down: visit as many places during the week and see who has the best BBQ. I visited Central BBQ on Central Avenue (a very close #2), the Commissary (#1), Neely's Interstate BBQ (Winchester Ave) (#4) and Corky's in Collierville (#3). The Commissary, while physically not as upscale as some of the... More

One of the top BBQ restaurants in the Memphis area. Everyone in Memphis has their own opinions about what is the best BBQ in Memphis, and the Commissary certainly warrants having its name in that discussion. The deviled eggs and the pork rinds are perhaps the best I've had anywhere.

All the locals told us to go here, and I'm glad we did. This is one of those old fashioned places still not trying to expand, and content with small rooms, badly located bathrooms, not enough counter space, no place to wait, and creaky floors. But don't change a thing. We had all the regular offerings, and took some back... More

Barbecue served the traditional way. I had slap of ribs, beans, slaw, Deviled egg and bread. Iced tea and homemade lcebox lemon pie, excellent! I enjoyed my food as a train came directly by. A wonderful experience!

Well, what can I say about this gem of an establishment. From the quaint look on the outside to old charm on the inside, this place has it all. Then of course there is the food. The smoke on the ribs is unbelievable. My ribs were on the chewy side, not as tender as I would have imagined, but still,... More

I have read the reviews and this place is not near five stars. It's not bad but there is much better BBQ in Memphis. The chicken was extremely dry and the hot link was just bland and not spicy at all. The sides were good and decent sized. From what I read online I expected much much more. The service... More

Excellent BBQ with delicious sides. I had the ribs, baked beans, and coleslaw. The baked beans were the best I have ever tasted - very complex flavor with shreds of meat and well-cooked (not mushy) beans. And usually I don't even like baked beans!
