If you like dry ribs then the food was adequate. The beans taste like watered down chili sauce and red beans. The slaw was good. One out of three isn't too bad is it?

If you like ribs, banana pudding, barbecue beans and potato salad, this is the place for you. Highly recommend if you're travelling through Memphis.

Went thereupon recommendation of friends. I knew it would be good by how it looked from the outside( and the line waiting to enter!). Ordered slab for two, with four sides to share with my wife. Should have just ordered a slab, and left the sides off. Beans were flavored with chili seasoning, the slaw had a taste of onion.... More

I read about this in the AAA book and we love BBQ. We decided to try while we were in the Memphis area because it was close to our hotel and sounded good. Great choice for a busy Friday night. Loved the pulled pork, it smelled wonderful in the restaurant, the smoking of the meats that they do there makes... More

I am not a BBQ fan but the food here was delicious. I had the smoked sausages and would highly recommend it. If nothing else you must try the Caramel cake. It was the best I have ever had! Mouthwatering! Cute, rustic atmosphere.

I grew up eating Memphis BBQ in the summers, so when I go back for a visit I always make sure to get at least one good meal of bbq. Commissary is one of my favorites because it is consistently good, and if you time it right, it's quick (without being 'fast food'). It's a cute, gritty little place in... More

I love this place. Looks rundown but food is Great. Usually a wait on weekends. Try them for lunch with no waiting. Deserts are a must!

Sides are very good. Beware this is a very small place to eat and can seem cramped. The service was... More

This is probably the best BBQ in Memphis. The place is small and well worn. We couldn't help staring at the food on our neighbors' table. It looked amazing and the people were absolutely blissful. They didn't mind our stares and began describing how succulent the meat was. They said it was the best in town as the other two... More

We've eaten at so many restaurants around the world that people have said; "You HAVE to eat here!" So off we went to the Commissary. Very vintage, and long lines and all that stuff you need for the iconic restaurant. But, in our opinion, the BBQ was over-rated. BUT, their potato salad and the cole slaw was great! No one... More
