Great food, great people

I was very happy to find this "meat 'n three" in the Franklin area. The food is always amazing. My only suggestion would be to include a "vegetarian/vegan" list of foods. I'm not saying to cater to that crowd (I mean, it IS a meat 'n three!) but to have a list of foods that do not contain meat... read more

Wow....this was some great southern, down home cooking. My sister introduced us to the Cool Cafe this week and we really enjoyed our dinner. A number of southern cooked dishes in a cafeteria setting. I had the fried chicken with two vegetables and it was excellent. The chicken had an enjoyable flavor and the vegs were cooked just right. This... More

Just the best "meat and 3" in the world! Their claim to fame is the fried chicken and the homemade banana pudding! There are always 2 other main entrees - varied each day. The array of fresh sides is huge, as are the portions! Cornbread or rolls on the side. There is usually cobbler of some sort, and pies. Very... More

I got the fried chicken and several vegetables. The chicken had a good crust and was tender; however, the breast meat was slightly dry. The wing that came with it was very good. All the vegetables were well prepared. A question to the server about which cobbler was best, she gave me 1/2 cherry and 1/2 blueberry- very generous servings... More

I took my elderly mother for a fun day in Franklin and stopped at Cool Cafe during lunchtime. We were pleasantly surprised by how cheerful and helpful the staff was. One employee helped my mom to the table with her tray and made sure she was comfortable and had everything she needed. Oh, and the food? It was great! We... More

The staff is friendly and the food is typical southern cooking. The hot chicken was a bit greasy. Pricing is very reasonable.

If you love good Southern country cooking, a stop at Cool Cafe is a must. Everything is made from scratch (you can see the teenagers in the kitchen peeling loads of potatoes) and tastes like you're eating at your grandma's table. The menu changes daily. Be sure to try the fried chicken and cornbread. Yummy desserts from seasonal fruits. Wash... More

Sometimes nothing will do except a plate of really good crispy fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, & a bacon drizzled green veggie reminiscent of Sunday lunch at a favorite aunt's house. That's when I head to Cool Cafe. The food is always good and the staff is friendly and anxious to please.

I am not a fan of the typical meat and three kind of place but this place rules. Food was great, there was a bit of a line but thats a good sign. Things are not overly salty which is good too. Its obvious they cook the food onsite and its not all just delivered from some vendor.

I walked in at 12:30 and the line was backed up to the door. I got my meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, fried okra, cold slaw, roll, drink cup and banana pudding (for around $15, mind you) at a couple minutes before 12:50, not too bad of a wait. It seems the best time to go in there is around... More
