Nice drive to a country restaurant!

We enjoyed the drive to this restaurant as much as we enjoyed our lunch! It's out in the middle of nowhere. An average meat and three. Nothing wowed us, but it was OK. (I like old-style country cooking that has meat cooked in the vegetables. Basically, these were cooked with little seasoning at... read more

We love lunch and dinner at the Cookie Jar! You are welcomed like family and enjoy the atmosphere at the restaurant. Tonight I noticed the young ladies who had ended their shift were enjoying their food as much as we guests, which tells me they enjoy the restaurant fare also. Being on the farm property brings back great memories of... More

The best home cooking you will find is at The Cookie Jar. From the scrumptious rolls to the delicious desserts, you will not be disappointed. The restaurant is set in the beautiful Sequatchie Valley. It would be difficult to find a more beautiful spot. The owners and staff will make you feel welcomed and you will leave with a full... More

I visited the restaurant a few months ago w while on business and knew that I had to bring my family down to experience what I did. We ate a small lunch at 11AM during our 12 hour trip from Michigan with this place being our last stop of the night. When we got there a sign outside stated that... More

I've heard about this place for years and can't believe it took me so long to go there! This place is home cooking at it's finest! The bread was melt in your mouth and while the chicken casserole was a smidge dry a first, they brought me some gravy and then it was perfection! Do not, and I repeat, DO... More

The best home-made yeast rolls and cornbread in the valley. Excellent cake, pie, and cupcakes. Beautiful, scenic location with attractive, efficient staff.

My husband and I decided to take a Saturday drive to Dunlap and check out The Cookie Jar. It was a good choice. My husband had the veggie plate. White beans were well seasoned and delicious. Mashed potatoes were REAL potatoes. I had the grilled meatloaf. Yum. We consider ourselves connoisseurs of hush puppies and these rank high on our... More

My husband and I took another couple for a treat and it was that. All through the meal we were commenting on how good it was. We loved the outside view while eating. Our service was excellent...fast and pleasing and accomadating. The other couple will be regular customers in the future, I'm sure.

We went for lunch on Saturday. We had just a short wait time. Homemade yeast rolls were the best! .Dessert was our favorite part. I had the Italian Cream cake and my husband had the Chocolate torte. Both were homemade and excellent!..Beautiful views of the mountains from the front porch.

We have been there plenty of times. The most recent visit was back in August 2015 on the way to Murfreesboro to visit my husband's Aunt and Uncle. We got there around 11 a.m. on Sunday and the food was good. We have eaten there deserts and their rolls. This time I had the catfish and my husband had the... More
