Spankies

My initial impression of the place was a bit negative. The decor was a bit odd (had Christmas lights) and there were two pictures hanging just past the bar that were slightly uneven. Small I know and I'm not OCD but it bothered me in a humerus way. Then we sat down and immediately our waitress was... read more

My family used to like this place, but the bread that Spankies is famous for in Cookeville had it's topping sliding off-YUK! It's a mayo/cheese mixture, but that's never happened before. The taco dishes and cajun chicken/pasta dish can only be described as bland. I added lemon to the cajun chicken/pasta dish to get some taste. The sauce looked cajun,... More

You probably won't find Spankies unless a local tells you about it. It's basically on the college campus, so of course there are a lot of college students there. At lunch time, it's a little bit of everybody. Business people on lunch break, students and college staff. Walk up to the counter to order, and they call your name over... More

Has been a Cookeville staple for as long as I can remember. The menu has changed over the years but the quality and service have always been excellent. A college favorite that can be loud at times, just go early.

Love the food from Spankies- a Cookeville classic! It may be where all the college kids go on Thursday night but during lunch and early dinner it is frequented by business people who have loved Spankies for years. My favorite is the chicken stix and of course the cheese bread is a MUST try!

Friendly, eclectic crowd of patrons comprised of professors, students and local business folks. Good food consisting of mostly traditional pub fare plus some unusual selections. The Cheesy Bread offered as a side is rich & filling enough to make a meal. Very good service. It's a bit off the beaten path and not readily accessible for an Interstate traveler. Worth... More

Pick a Monday night, any Monday night, and you will find some of us at one of the large round tables in the back of the Restaurant . Most of us are neighbors, all of us are friends. Most of us will order the "Monday Night Special', a 6 oz., bacon wrapped fillet, mashed potatoes, and green beans, for $11.95. My... More

This review is the ONLY below par experience we have encountered at this eatery. On our Sunday October 26, 2014 visit, our server, (we could tell she was obviously a student by the school work she was doing at the bar), greeted us in the usual friendly manner we have come to expect from this establishment. Our order was taken,... More

Very good. Never eat there but I enjoy their bar. Great atmosphere. However, I think that the bartender cheats on his girlfriend with girls he meets at the bar. And also, I have a feeling this place might be what people would think of as a "COKE BAR". But great place for shots or just a beer on the way... More

My wife and I brought some visitors from Europe here for an evening meal and were not disappointed. The restaurant truly has ambience and the staff were all very attentive to our needs (and patient with us). At no time did we feel rushed. We enjoyed 3 of the many delicious appetizer options, and our entree courses were also fabulous.... More
