Down home cooking

Slow down; enjoy a cup of coffee. Quaint country restaurant, with music relics on the walls. Food is good.

Very average food, no different than what I can cook in my own skillets; rude server who seemed to think she could act & speak to anyone any way she wanted. I can't believe they let her get away with that snotty attitude, but someone near our table said something about her being a relative of the owners, I believe... More

While visiting daughter in Nolensville, TN, we decided to check out Columbia, TN, and while talking to my mother back in Illinois, by phone, my mother told us that the restaurant she heard about on the Joey and Rory show was near there. We finally found it by asking locals. Fun little place. Old time nostalgic atmosphere, lots of photos... More

The food is average. This is a family owned and run place. Joey & Rory (husband&wife singing group) , are part owner and it is common to see one of them. Don't be surprised if they run out of menu items. I don't make a habit of eating here but it's worth the time and money if you are visiting... More

If you are looking for good country cooking this is the place! Breakfasts are great! Dinner menu is limited so check their website before you go..typically has a couple of "meats" or entree's to choose from. It also gets crowded quickly due to limited hours..which you can check out on the website too. We've been several times & will go... More

Located about 12 miles from Columbia, TN, the wood burning stove made the setting inside Marcy Jo's Mealhouse warm and cozy. The food was good and portions were large. Our bus group arrived for mid-morning breakfast. This facility is not well suited to handle a large influx of people although those working did their very best to get everyone served... More

Driving from Nashville to Huntsville and decided to get off the interstate and take some back roads. So glad we did. Saw this place and had to stop in. It was like Mayberry RFD inside with fresh cooked food and pastries to die for. When we were waiting for our table the young lady was carving a piece of cinnamon... More

Driving south from Nashville to AL, we decided to take the small roads and happened upon Marcy's Jo's. What a gem! An old refurbished mercantile store built in the 1890's with great food and nice family folks running the place! I had the BLT and soup for lunch and was stuffed but once I saw the gigantic cinnamon buns going... More

Eggs were cold and the breakfast fries tasted as if they were fried in old grease. They seated 3 young men before a husband and his small child and pregnant wife. The family had been waiting a good 10 minutes before the young men entered the restaurant. Marcy seemed to know these young men so I guess they received preference.... More
