Best (only?) BBQ in Centerville

When you drive by this place, you get that "I've GOT to try this" feeling. It is very small with limited seating. They do the "peanuts on the table" thing like a Logan's steakhouse to keep you busy while waiting form the food. The staff is very hospitable and pleasant. There is obviously a lot... read more

If you want to eat the best BBQ that you have ever had, you must make the trip to Papa Kayjoe's. You will not be disappointed! The pitmaster slow cooks the BBQ over hickory coals until it is ready to eat. You can tell he takes a great deal of pride in what he does, the BBQ is absolutely delicious.

The food was great. They gave large portions for a very reasonable price. The seating was limited but they were not busy when we visited.

We've been traveling for two weeks across the States and this is by far the best meal we had. Great food, great ambience, friendly staff, spent 8 dollars each. Loved it.

My in-laws live in Centerville and there is always some of there pulled pork at the house when we go to visit the family. I would place this place better the "Jim and Nick BBQ" any day of the week.

Hot coals, a shovel, lard. These are the simple secrets to great food at Papa Kayjoes in Centerville, TN. Undoubtedly off the beaten path, this BBQ heaven is worth the trip from interstate 40, Natchez Trace Parkway or points beyond. Devin Pickard has perfected the no frills process of melting the Boston butt until it is fired to perfection with... More

Another take on BBQ! It was good, if a little 'wet' for our tastes. The best part was the cornbread! I almost told the waitress to leave it out but I am glad I didn't. What did she call it, a 'hoe cake'? Who knows, but it was pretty dang good! The rest of the food was average to me,... More

Having lived around here for 4 of the last 9 years, I never got around to partaking of the Papa K experience until today. It lives up to it's celebrated reputation by delivering solid Bar-B-Que in a unassuming, comfortable, friendly fashion. They don't just have "sides" to go with their pork plate, they've got "deep-fried" sides that will blow you... More

Good hambergers and pie, good service, nice place but Bar B Que is bland and mediocre at best. Eat anything but the Q.

Hello there. In general thank you very much for positive things you had to say about Papa KayJoe's BBQ. Of course, the disappointing thing for us is that you didn't care for the pork BBQ. We would very much like your input as to how we might improve that product. It seems from your bio that you live in or... More

Hours are listed wrong. Drove a long way with friends from out of state and was very disappointed. Had planned our day around it.
