If the parking lot isn't busy at the noon hour, there's a reason why.

The first clue was when we asked the waitress if she knew anything about the road conditions. (We stopped in a ground blizzard - unsure if we should continue). Her reply, "Oh I don't know. I don't pay attention to those things." This is a truck stop on the south side of a notoriously rough stretch... read more

We sat ourselves and after 5 minutes, finally went in search of a waitress! In the back chatting with another waitress. Special was Prime Rib, so we both ordered. Was the toughest and worst we both had ever eaten?

Heading south and just happened into this place. Had a Brisket Sandwich ad Chicken Fried Steak. Service was great, prices reasonable, food ample and very well prepared. If you are on the road in S. Dakota . . worth a stop!

Stopped by chance on our trip to Sioux Falls, South Dakota tried their buffet, what a feast! Assorted meats, potatoes, dressing, vegetables, and salad bar and dessert. More than one would expect and the service is excellent on Saturday night their Prime Rib is outstanding. The price is fair, the serving size is large for the Prime Rib and the... More

While traveling southbound on I29 we stopped at a rest stop in South Dakota. We were greeted by a friendly woman behind the information counter, and we mentioned we wondering where we should stop for lunch. She recommended, the truck stop at Watertown, SD just to the left side of the exit (east). So we decided why not? So glad... More

Drove all the way out to this place because I had purchased a $10 gift certificate through a spiff at work. Me and the girlfriend each ordered the salad bar for $4 extra on the side of our meal, just because we had the gift certificate through restaurants.com. Ate and turned in the certificate when paying the bill and the... More

Prior to visiting the Grainery for my grandfather's birthday dinner, I read through the reviews and because of their mixed nature we didn't really know what to expect. I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised! Despite the restaurant being a part of a truck stop, the atmosphere is very good and wasn't at all what we were picturing we'd... More

After traveling all day and checking into our hotel, we began looking through the phone book for a place to sit down and get a bite to eat. There was an ad for the Grainery in the hotel Guest Services pamphlet and a nice ad in the phonebook with the statement "Where the locals eat", so we decided to try... More

We came here for supper on Monday evening, April 21, after a long drive from south-central Iowa to Watertown, due to our planned visit the next day at the Redlin Art Center. After we checked into our motel, we scoured the phone book for a "local" eatery - when we travel, we opt-out of the chain restaurants and prefer to... More

Visited tonight in spite of mediocre reviews we read. 3 of us had the prime rib special. Delicious meal very little scrap tender meat. 1 person had a humongous burger and also really enjoyed. We will definitely return. The staff was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere very nice country decor. Give this place a try you will not be disappointed
