While traveling southbound on I29 we stopped at a rest stop in South Dakota. We were greeted by a friendly woman behind the information counter, and we mentioned we wondering where we should stop for lunch. She recommended, the truck stop at Watertown, SD just to the left side of the exit (east). So we decided why not? So glad... More

Drove all the way out to this place because I had purchased a $10 gift certificate through a spiff at work. Me and the girlfriend each ordered the salad bar for $4 extra on the side of our meal, just because we had the gift certificate through restaurants.com. Ate and turned in the certificate when paying the bill and the... More

Prior to visiting the Grainery for my grandfather's birthday dinner, I read through the reviews and because of their mixed nature we didn't really know what to expect. I have to say, we were pleasantly surprised! Despite the restaurant being a part of a truck stop, the atmosphere is very good and wasn't at all what we were picturing we'd... More

After traveling all day and checking into our hotel, we began looking through the phone book for a place to sit down and get a bite to eat. There was an ad for the Grainery in the hotel Guest Services pamphlet and a nice ad in the phonebook with the statement "Where the locals eat", so we decided to try... More

We came here for supper on Monday evening, April 21, after a long drive from south-central Iowa to Watertown, due to our planned visit the next day at the Redlin Art Center. After we checked into our motel, we scoured the phone book for a "local" eatery - when we travel, we opt-out of the chain restaurants and prefer to... More

Visited tonight in spite of mediocre reviews we read. 3 of us had the prime rib special. Delicious meal very little scrap tender meat. 1 person had a humongous burger and also really enjoyed. We will definitely return. The staff was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere very nice country decor. Give this place a try you will not be disappointed

I have eaten at The Grainery many times. Most of the time the service is great. The food is also usually good. When I ate there tonight my coffee cup had lipstick on it "I don't wear lipstick". This is the second time that this has happened to me at The Grainery. I also have gotten dirty drinking glasses here... More

We stayed in Watertown at a hotel. We skipped the usual hotel breakfast because we wanted something better. Mistake! We are tea drinkers. We like our black tea in the morning. The waitress brought green tea. Things didn't go well after we refused the green tea. She claimed they didn't have any -they just ran out yesterday and the truck... More

We had weekday brunch here because it was convenient to the interstate. The restaurant is actually part of a gas station/convenience store complex so if you're travelling it's a good place to take a break, gas up, get some food and supplies for the road. The salad bar is small but good and well-tended. Mixed greens, cut fresh veggies, a... More
