The best food in South Dakota, hands down. As a vegetarian in the South Dakota, the Bay Leaf is one of the few restaurants where I can get an actual meal. I bring my friends and family here constantly and they love it. Always fresh, always friendly, always delicious. It can't be beat.

We stopped here for dinner on our road trip to Glacier National Park. We had the moussaka and Greek salad which was mouthwatering. Ate outside with perfect 70 degree evening temps. Had the profiteroles for dessert made with homemade coffee ice cream. I would stop here again in a heartbeat.

Everything home made from the bread to the soup. CISCO beware these people cut their own vegies, Excellent food in a clean well lit cafe, Bay leaves used with discretion!

TL;DR: super good food, quick service, clean bathrooms. My husband and I decided to stop in Spearfish for a bite to eat and a break from the road. We searched for a place to eat and saw several people recommended this place, so we decided to give it a shot. I ordered an elk burger and the French onion soup... More

Busy and full when we arrived. When was the last time you had wait staff say, "I'm glad you have a reservation because I just HATE it when I have to tell people they are going to have to wait!" Cute place, great food, great service. I had the buffalo steak that was delicious as was my wife's moussaka. Wonderful... More

This is a wonderful place to eat great food if you are in Spearfish. The chef is inspired,!we had a chicken provencal for one meal and a cajun pasta for the other. Both were excellent! A small but good variety of wines and beers. Service was excellent and not intrusive. Do stop and enjoy their food.

The art, location, service, the whole scene is really nice. The menu is OK. The kids noodles were excellent, and they aren't always, some places really neglect the kids. Our bison NY strip steaks were heavenly. The veggies with them were undercooked, two days in a row, and the rice pilaf was so so. But the steaks were so good... More

Small informal restaurant with clean tasting food nicely prepared. Service was attentive and not intrusive. Wine list was limited, probably reflecting relatively small demand. A great choice if you want food prepared to your individual taste and needs at reasonable prices!

We are in the area on our honeymoon and had a fun day of shopping downtown Spearfish! We saw the restaurant and decided to try it out. My husband ordered the Monte Christo and I ordered the Reuben. The food was great and we will definitely eat there again! I would recommend this place.
