Fantastic Food and Service (The Best in Town)

The food and service were excellent with great attention to detail. Very complex flavors and presentation, yet down to earth. Artfully created by a true chef and not just a line cook. We highly recommend this restaurant and plan to eat there often. Our waitress, Carla, was wonderful!

Lovingly prepared food at this simple cafe in the heart of Spearfish. Everything our party had, from the walleye to the artichoke dip to the lamb chops to the dessert was delicious. I cannot recommend this place enough!

One of my favorite things about the Bay Leaf Café is they serve meals made with local product. The lamb chops are excellent. Summer meals include locally grown veggies. I've tried many things on the menu but my favorite is the Moussaka - ground lamb and eggplant. The Mediterranean appetizer includes a tasty hummus and is great light meal.. Vegetarian... More

I had lasagna and salad, and both were absolutely delicious. The lasagna was unique and blended delicious flavors with both eggplant and meat. The dressing on the caesar salad was eggless and had a wonderful flavor. You really must try this restaurant!

I have been going to the Bay Leaf Cafe for several years and have never been disappointed in the food , service or price . It is a place where I like to meet a family member or friend for a special lunch. Their menu includes many options that you don't see elsewhere, and their lunch menu changes often. Quiches,... More

WOW! Food was perfect! I had the sundried tomato and artichoke quiche, which was excellent! Served with a fresh salad, fruit, and a sweet poppy seed bread. Husband had French Onion soup and a chicken gyro and it looked awesome and he said it tasted great! I tried the topping and it really was great. Great restaurant, great service, will... More

We had a very relaxing evening, beginning with a German wine. Since we are on a limited food plan, we shared an entree of the special which was Alaskan halibut, shrimp, and scallops; previewed with homemade chicken noodle soup and an extra house salad. The entrre was accompanied with homemade rolls, small red potatoes, & freshly prepared spinach and carrots. Even... More

Stopped by for a late lunch here. It was a nice place - comfortable home town feel. Two of us ordered their bison burgers and the other companion ordered the German platter. Wow - the bison burgers beat out any we have had - fresh cooked to perfection - not overcooked - full of flavor. Great bun with the burger... More

When you enter, you'll see decor of yesteryear along with lots of quilts hung on the walls. You'll also notice a lot of local and older folks eating there. This usually indicates good food and good value --- correct indicators in this case. I had a very good ruben sandwich with sweet potato fries. Exceptional. The only flaw I noted... More

Service was slow but the food was fresh and very tasty. Extremely reasonable too. Try the rhubarb cake- if you have room!
